After last weekends fine 4 - 1 win against Binfield Kidlington will be looking to keep the run going when they meet Henley Town tonight in the Senior Cup. On Saturday against Binfield Kidlington lost Skipper Danny Leggett to a nasty calf injury, Leggett had to go to A & E where he received 12 stitches in the wound and will therefore miss tonight's match. Also missing will be Kieran Sanders who sustained an injury to his ankle in the same game. Kidlington will meet Binfield again at Yarnton Road in a few weeks time, as the two teams have been drawn together in the Floodlit cup 3rd round on 1st December. Kidlington played Binfield at this stage of the competition last season and had a comfortable 4 - 0, so they will be looking to repeat this again this season. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary says " I was extremely happy with the way the team has been playing in the last few matches where we have been scoring goals for fun, and i'm now extremely disappointed that I have lost the services of Leggett and Sanders to injury. However we have strength in depth in our squad and I am confident of achieving a positive result this evening". For this match Mark Baker who was unavailable at the weekend returns, whilst Lewis Coyle and Ross Gray have been added to the squad. Kidlington have drawn their last 3 league matches so will be looking to get back to winning ways against Ascot this Saturday. Manager Gordon Geary said that "the lads haven't been playing badly, it's just that we haven't been putting sides away when we have had the opportunity. Last Saturday against Shortwood we had several chances to add a second goal, but then conceded an equalizer in the last couple of minutes which resulted in a 1 - 1 score line". Kidlington's goal last week was scored by new signing Luke Holden. Holden marked his return to the club in some style with an excellent strike and a good all round performance. For this match Kidlington could have Brad Chalmers back. Chalmers has recovered from a leg injury and now needs games, Geary will make a late decision on that one. Also back in the squad will be Jerry Kapral and recent signing Danny Morgan. Morgan was signed a couple of weeks back from Abingdon Town. He needed a few of run outs in the reserve team, he's now had these and is building his sharpness and fitness. The reports from reserve team Manager Barry Hiles about Kapral and Morgan are very positive therefore Geary's 1st team squad is looking extremely healthy at the moment. Also back in the squad will be young Ross Gray who has been looking at University's for the last couple of weeks and has been unavailable for selecton. The one noticeable absentee will be Jimmy Deabill who is serving a one match suspension after being harshly double yellow carded at Reading back in late September. | WEDNESDAY 21st OCTOBER - TONY INCENZO

Ambitious Vandanel Kent County Football League Division 2 West Bexley Borough Football Club are delighted to formally announce a two year, four figure shirt sponsorship agreement with Bexleyheath based DC Direct.
DC Direct has over 35 years experience in the office supplies industry. They supply nationwide through a network of depots, same day and at no extra cost, everything a business needs in an office, from staples and paperclips to photocopiers and furniture. For more Information go to morethanjuststationery.com. Daniel Capel, CEO DC Direct said ‘It’s not everyday you get to sponsor a local football team. I like their stakeholders and ambitious plans; I hope with our help Bexley Borough Football Club will achieve great successes’ Commenting on the agreement Bexley Borough FC Chairman Simon Kidby said ‘It goes without saying that I am absolutely delighted to welcome DC Direct as our Partner and Shirt Sponsor for the next two seasons. For a Kent County League Division Two club to agree such a substantial sponsorship deal with such a prestigious local business not only shows the direction of the football club are going but also the positive perception our ambitious plans has made on many businesses over the last 5 to 6 months.
The deal was brokered by Bexley Borough’s Commercial Manager Richard Pleydell who joined from Crockenhill Football Club at the start of this season. On his appointment Mr Kidby commented ‘This is the first of a number of four figure agreements Richard has brokered and to be announced over the coming weeks. It’s testament to Richard’s loyalty that he has already turned down an offer from a high profile Kent League Club and another from a Kent County Premier League Club. Richard is an integral part of our committee and is working hard as we all are to achieve our vision’ | SATURDAY 10th OCTOBER - STUART ROBINSON In the Central Midlands League Supreme Division, Hatfield Main have disbanded forthwith. Their record has been expunged. This is due to a lack of personnel, both on and off the field. Also, I think travellers should beware when planning a trip to certain leagues, especially midweek. Last season I went to a Sheffield County Senior League game that was advertised on their website (mitoo) but the game was off. No warning or anything. This can be quite common in this league. Last night I drove to Leicester (130 miles round trip) to watch the Thurmaston v Rothley game, advertised on the Leicestershire Senior League website with a 7.30pm ko. Again, the game was off without warning even though no change had been made on the website. The young man in the office at the sports centre where they play looked in the book and told me that the pitch was booked for Saturday. I had e mailed the contact given as secretary but the reply I received merely said that he wasn't the sec any more. In both the above cases I emailed the league concerned to express my concern but no reply has been received from either. If they can't do the job, maybe they should pack it in!!! | THURSDAY 8th OCTOBER - SIMON DICKENS This Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier side Kidlington travel just down the A420 to Shrivenham for a league match, K.O. 3-00 PM. Kidlington bounced back to winning ways on Wednesday with a fine victory against Division One West table toppers Slimbridge in the Floodlit Cup. Slimbridge had gone 14 games unbeaten in all competitions this season until last nights result. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary reported that "this was a good hard game" and he "expects Slimbridge to be joining Kidlington in the Premier Division next season". He went on to say that he felt that his Kidlington side should have won the match in normal time but a succession of missed opportunities allowed the match to finish 0 - 0 aet". Therefore this meant that the match was finally decided by the lottery of a penalty shoot out where young Ben Willoughby put away Kidlington's decisive spot kick to send the Oxfordshire side in to the draw for the last 16, by virtue of a 4 - 3 penalty score line win . The win came at a cost, several players received knocks and there will now have to be late fitness test for Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill and James Philpot before Saturday's match. defiantly out are Brad Chalmers injury and Jerry Kapral holiday. Kieran Sanders who was unavailable mid-week will come back into the squad. Manager Gordon Geary is also away this weekend so his assistants Keith Appleton, Paul Harwood and Gaz Johnson will be looking after team affairs. | WEDNESDAY 7th OCTOBER - PETER ABBOTT Advance warning (if interested) : West Vlaanderen Prov 1 SATURDAY 13 February 2010 ko 1500 K. Geoff had made his intentions know for a couple of months so the club had time to find a suitable replacement and have done so in 39 year old Lloyd Wray who has now taken up the batten. Lloyd said that he realises that “Geoff’s will be a hard act to follow as under Talboys tenure the club have evolved immensely both on and off the field of play”. After the previous Chairman resigned a decade ago Talboys a player at the time became aware of the situation, without hesitation he agreed to step up and take up the reins on a ‘temporary’ basis. The club at this time were a struggling Hellenic Division One outfit, and during Geoff’s decade at the helm (temporary?) he has overseen the clubs rise to become an established Hellenic Premier Division side (at step 5). He has seen the instillation of floodlighting and training lights, the seating and terrace covered stands and the hard standing viewing area which runs the full perimeter of the pitch at Yarnton Road. Everyone concerned with the club owe Geoff a great deal of gratitude for the work he has done, he has been the rock around which the club have built it’s foundations and been able to move forward over the last years and for this we all thank him. It‘s not goodbye however as he will be remaining on the committee, but in a lesser roll, which will give him more time to pursue his other commitments and interests. Incoming Chairman Lloyd Wray has been associated with the club for many years and was a past Captain of the 1st team where in his playing days where he was a strong central defender. Lloyd is a local business man and was player/manager of our successful Veteran’s team for the last couple of seasons, but he said he “relishes the opportunity to step up and take control of club matters and hopes to raise the barrier once again to drive the club forward into this our centenary season. There is a new and optimistic feel around Yarnton Road for this coming season, where we now have a new Chairman coupled with new 1st, Reserves and Veterans teams’ management. | FRIDAY 12th JUNE - BRIAN BUCK On Saturday 13th June 2009 Potter Street Baptists play Gateway in a Friendly Match kick off 10.30am. It was decided to continue using the ground to the end of the season in order to let the grass pitch at the new ground (Ainslie Park - 500 yards away from City Park) bed in. Spartans last home league game of the season is, fittingly, against their traditional rivals, Edinburgh City, the previous occupants of City Park (and the reason the ground has it's name). Added spice to the occasion is that Spartans are still going for the East of Scotland League Championship (their last game is on 23rd May away to challengers Dalbeattie Star who are currently level on points but 4 goals worse off). I'm sure Edinburgh City would like nothing better than to put a spoke in the wheels of their rivals title ambitions. I understand a bumper programme is being planned, covering the history of the ground (Ferranti Thistle also played there previously). Not much notice for groundhoppers but should be a good turn out. Spartans have also announced the first games at Ainslie Park will be on the weekend of 18/19 July - a 4 club tournament also featuring Raith Rovers, Hamilton Accies & near-namesakes Blyth Spartans. Details on the club website www.spartansfc.com | THURSDAY 7th MAY - SIMON DICKENS This Sunday afternoon 10th May Kidlington Football Club are staging the 2nd annual memorial match in honour of Club stalwart Terry Wiffen who regrettably passed away in the autumn of 2007. The match will K.O. at 2:00 pm at Kidlington’s Yarnton Road ground. Last year’s match was a really enjoyable event, if a little emotional, and was extremely well supported. It was great to see so many faces both old and new at Yarnton Road for the game for our dear friend Terry. After the match it was agreed that this would now become an annual event. Therefore it will be great to see as many of spectators as possible at this match again, and we are hoping that the match will be as interesting and entertaining as last year. Last time the Oxford United legends beat the Kidlington legends 7 – 1. Some of the Ex-Oxford United players already to confirm include - Alan Judge Big Phil Whitehead Phil Heath Mike Ford Les Robin Anton Rogan · U’s manager Chris Wilder and 1st team coach and legend Mickey Lewis A donation from the match will be made to a local cancer charity, so your support in publicising /advertising this event for us will be much appreciated. |

Obviously it goes without saying I would meet wherever it's convenient for them and will pay my share of the petrol costs. I can be contacted on 07724 878216. | FRIDAY 24th APRIL - TONY INCENZO Maldon St Mary’s of the Essex Olympian League are going to produce a programme for their home game against Writtle on Wednesday, April 29. The club will be compiling a list of names of those who have reserved programmes, so it is essential to send an advance email. | THURSDAY 23rd APRIL - ROGE S I wonder if you or your avid readers can help me out via the Noticeboard. I am researching for a book at the moment and am in desperate need of some specific Football results – League and Cups from the 80’s and 90’. What I need specifically are: Hounslow FC Match dates and Results: 1986/87 season - All results for April / May 1987 (Hellenic League Premier Division) 1987/88 season – All results (Southern League Div 1 Souh) Yeading FC Match dates and Results: 1989/90 season – All results from 20/03/1990 on to the end of the season 1990/91 season - All results from 10/04/91 on to the end of the season 1991/92 season – Whytleafe at Home 02/05/1992 1992/93 season – All results from 09/03/1993 to the end of the season 1993/94 season – all results from 06/11/93 to the end of the season 1994/95 season – all results from 02/02/95 to the end of the season I have tried contacting the leagues and the clubs without success, but if anyone can copy pages from a programme or similar it would all be a great help. If these can be sent to me by email to roge.s@btinternet.com I’d be really grateful. | THURSDAY 23rd APRIL - PETER ABBOTT As I have already been asked by some of you, I thought it useful to post the following info for the draws for the Belgian League play-offs this season. Monday 4 May 2009 at 16.00 Qualifiers for Div 2 play-offs at 16-15 Qualifiers for Div 3 play-offs at 16.30 Div 4 play-offs at 16.45 Div 4 / Provincial play-offs Monday 11 May 2009 at 16.00 Div 3 play-offs Monday 18 May 2009 at 16.00 Div 2 play-offs
In all cases apart from Div 2 play-offs, games will be played on the following weekend(s) Div 2 play-offs will generally be played on Thursday(s) and Sunday(s) Times are BST. | THURSDAY 23rd APRIL - PETER ABBOTT On Sunday 3 May 2009 the Belgian League Div 2 game between FC Liege v FC Tournai has been switched to the Stade de Kehrweg in Tongeren ko 15-00. This is due to both FC Liege and their current ground landlords FC Seresien being at home and as it is the last day of the season, neither are allowed to change the timing of their games. | FRIDAY 17th APRIL - BRIAN BUCK Wisbech St Mary, who currently play in the Cambs BIS League Division 1B now have floodlights. They look set to win this division. If so they will play in the Kershaw League Senior B Division next season. | WEDNESDAY 15th APRIL - SIMON DICKENS This coming Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier side Kidlington are to take on Blue Square Premier Division side Oxford United in a friendly match at Yarnton Road K.O. 12:00 noon. This hastily arranged fixture is to benefit both clubs, The U’s will still hopefully be involved in their bid for a play-off place and will give them a chance to give fans favourites Barry Quinn and Shane Killock a run out. Oxford United’s website reports that both have been missing from the side because of injury and a game against Kidlington is an ideal opportunity to give the defensive pair a game. Oxford also have the Final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup to look forward to when they take on Banbury United on Tuesday 21st April. Kidlington still have one Hellenic Premier League match to play away against Highworth Town but this match is not fixtured until 27th April so Kidlington need the match to keep their hand in. The side Oxford United will be fielding will be predominantly their Reserves with some of the 1st team squad that need a game while Kidlington will field their first team squad. Admission for the match will be £3.00 for adults and £1.00 for concessions. Please note the kick off time of 12.00pm. | WEDNESDAY 15th APRIL - MICK BURT I'm doing a programme for the Steventon v AFC Wallingford game this evening in the North Berks League. Our last home game of the season is a real cracker against current table toppers Bitton & theres added spice with a bit of "History" regarding Bittons manager & FTFC. I expect a good crowd to turn up but I would love to do my bit in boosting the gate by persuading groundhoppers to come and visit Frome's ground in big numbers for that particular game. A very warm welcome would be given to all and if it happens then I would personally guarentee ALL hoppers would get a programme (something i know is important to them). Frome have spent a lot of money and time in gaining the ground grading this year and I feel it would be fitting that a bumper gate should grace Badgers Hill for our (hopefully) last WL home fixture. The match is on Friday 1st May 2009 - kick-off at 7.45pm. To give the football club an idea of how many programmes to print, should you be visiting us for this match and wish to reserve a match day programme, please email me at southwestred@hotmail.com and I will make sure a copy is kept for you to pick up on the evening of the match. |

Up until now we have been pleased to cover most of these charges ourselves and only a small amount has been passed on to you to cover these "extras". As the magazine is now self-financing and is not being subsidised any more, the rates for subscriptions, back and future issues, single issues etc has been adjusted to reflect these additional charges. Also for the same reason, next season's subscriptions will NOT include any free issues although obviously all existing full-season subscribers for THIS season will receive their free summer 2009 issues as promised. There will be an announcement towards the end of the season in the magazine and on the Non-League Digest website with news of a great new incentive for those wanting to take out a full-season subscription for 2009-2010 season. Watch this space..... | THURSDAY 5th MARCH - SIMON DICKENS This Saturday afternoon FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington entertain Buckinghamshire side Chalfont Wasps in a League match at Yarnton Road - K.O. 3:00pm. Last Tuesday evening Kidlington travelled to Wiltshire to take on Highworth Town in a league match. Unfortunately owing to the terrible weather the match had to be abandoned after 15 minutes with the scores still level at 0 - 0. For the match at Highworth, Kidlington were able to include their two new signings, Keeper John Beames who has transfered to the club from Witney United, and Andy Styles a midfield player who has signed from Milton United. Both will again be in the squad for this weekend. For this Saturday's match against Chalfornt Skipper Emmett McGovern and Adam Doyle return. Keeper Matt Hutton who has been playing through injury will be rested, and hopefully now that Kidlington have John Beames on board it will give him a chance to recover. Chris Baker (toe) and Lewis Gabbidon (thigh) will face late fitness tests, but Mark Baker (knee) still remains side lined. Kidlington Squad - John Beames, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Chris Baker, Andy Styles & Matt Hayward. | THURSDAY 5th MARCH - PETER ABBOTT Belgian Cup SF : 03/03/2009 20:45 Racing Genk - Lierse SK 2-2 att - 15,000 04/03/2009 20:45 Cercle Bruges - KV Mechelen 2-1 att - nc 22/04/2009 20:45 Lierse SK - Racing Genk - 22/04/2009 20:45 KV Mechelen - Cercle Bruges - | WEDNESDAY 4th MARCH - PAUL ROTH BOODLES ISFA Cup Final. Our aim is to gather sufficient information in order to produce a book on the competition and the type of information needed is as follows: * Personal memories of games played (ie semis, finals or any other important matches) * Anecdotes regarding teams, players or games watched * Programmes, especially from the 1960's and 1970's * Photographs of teams and match action * Names of any contacts you may know that have played in the Sunday Cup, been involved with a team in it or have watched games in it * Any information regarding teams who have played in the Sunday Cup- ie: venues used, leagues, club history Archive results I would be grateful of any information you may have. You can email me @ wharton1@talktalk.net. YOU CAN ALSO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN THE BOOK | MONDAY 2nd MARCH - SIMON DICKENS This Tuesday evening FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington Travel to Highworth Town for a League match, K.O. 7:45pm. Last Saturday Kidlington drew 0 - 0 at Bicester Town, where the home sides goalkeeper Tom McNarara played a blinder to keep a clean sheet. This result means that Kidlington's fine run of form, only losing twice in their last eleven league games continues. Kidlington will now be looking to keep this run going at The Elm Recreation Ground, the home of their Berkshire opponents. The Kidlington Management Team are looking at strengthening their squad before the final run in to the season, and their is a possibility that 2 or 3 players could be added in the next week or so, depending on negotiations. More news on this will be forthcoming as and when anything concrete happens. For this Tuesday's match Kidlington's Lewis Gabbidon will face a late fitness test. Mark Baker (knee) still remains side lined. Kidlington Squad - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker & Matt Hayward. | SUNDAY 1st MARCH - JOHN CLEMENTS I am the webmaster for Guiseley AFC and thought your contributors might be interested to know that Guiseley kick-off their Centenary celebrations with a friendly match against the USA Major Soccer League Champions Columbus Crew on Tuesday 03 March 2009 at Nethermoor Park, Otley Road, Guiseley, LS20 8BT Website: www.guiseleyafc.co.uk Directions: www.guiseleyafc.co.uk/matchday.htm It will be a great footballing occasion with the old-established English club taking on the talent of the ‘new world’ soccer club who are current champions of the league in which David Beckham's LA Galaxy play. Crew are coming to England to prepare for their next league campaign which kicks-off on March 21 at Houston Dynamo. They must wait until May for the big clash with David Beckham’s Los Angeles Galaxy. Whilst in England the game against Guiseley will be sandwiched between games played against Everton and Liverpool Reserve teams at the Premiership clubs’ training grounds. Among the Columbus Crew players with international recognition is forward Alejandro Moreno, who played for Venezuela in their friendly against Guatemala earlier this month. Crew have five players in the current USA squad in midfielders Brian Carroll, Eddie Gaven and Robbie Rogers, goalkeeper William Hesmer and defender and three-times World Cup veteran Frankie Hejduk. The connection between the clubs comes through Guiseley AFC coach Mark Ellis. The former Bradford City winger and current City youth coach spends his summers in the USA coaching. Ellis said: “It is a very prestigious game for us. All our players will want to be involved in this one, it is something everyone at our club is looking forward to. I have been told that all of the Columbus first team squad players will be involved in their games over here. I’m sure there will be a lot of people who want to watch.” Ellis added: “I have never coached any of their players or at their club but I have coached in that area in the States. I was based just a few miles from them and have some contacts there. They are one of the best sides in the MLS.” A number of former Guiseley youth team players have experience of training with an MLS club with a number of them figuring in trials with LA Galaxy in the last two years - current Guiseley first team squad member Danny Husband being one of them. Guiseley will give a debut in this game to midfielder Jordan Barnes, son of former Liverpool and England legend John Barnes. The former Chester City youngster’s arrival emphasises the links the Guiseley club has made with the university, as he is the third of their players to join the club this season. |
