TUESDAY 17 JULY - PETER ABBOTT
UR Namur :  In waiting (hopefully) to take up their place in Belgian Div 2, UR Namur confirmed today that after this season, they will move grounds for the 2008-09 season, hence there may only be one more season to watch the club at Stade Bas-Pres irrespective of whether they are in Div 2 or 3. The Centre ADEPS ground in Jambes is being renovated by the local French Community who have bought up the old stadium which dates back to 1949 and have, I believe so far, renovated the main stand and are now working on the restoration of the athletics track and improving access to the stadium. The plan is then for UR Namur to move in after next summer. Some of us have already seen UR Namur temporarily play league games at ADEPS soon after they moved out of the Michel Soullier stadium (now an hospital car park, however with some traces of that old ground remaining, although less every time I go past) and prior to the merger with Wallonia Saint Servais which resulted in the current UR Namur playing at Bas Pres.

TUESDAY 17 JULY - PETER ABBOTT
Following fresh court appeals held / discussed last Friday and earlier today, the matter of whether Verb. Geel or UR Namur will play in Belgian League in Div 2 next season rumbles on. Court action today has suspended the decision of the Belgian FA to confirm Geel's position in Div 2 until at least 31 July 2007. Lawyers for UR Namur are saying that Geel have the matter of a debt of around 3 million euro's to resolve before they can satisfy FA criteria, hence take their place in Div 2. Watch this space- again !

THURSDAY 12 JULY - PETER ABBOTT
After much speculation, Wolves have now agreed to send a side to celebrate the opening of Holyhead Hotspur's new ground on Saturday 28 July (which is the date that Holyhead had previously announced) ko 15-00. Wolves are already playing at Cheltenham Town that same afternoon and the stronger, more senior side will be at Whaddon Road.

TUESDAY 10 JULY - PETER ABBOTT
Olympic Charleroi are working hard to remedy the various concerns of the fire authorities, however it is certain that at least SOME of their home games will be played at Sporting Charleroi and NOT at Stade Neuville. The early home game on the 15 August against Royal Antwerp has already been switched.

TUESDAY 10 JULY - HARLEY FREEMANTLE
I'd be interested to know whether 'hoppers would be interested in ticking the unrailed and unroped pitches at the Sheepmount in Carlisle, (where both Northbank and Carlisle City play on railed pitches,) as Gillford Park will be playing a friendly on 18th July against Wigton Harriers and I may do a programme. You can email me at HarleyFreemantle@aol.com or reply here.

FRIDAY 6 JULY - PETER ABBOTT
In Belgium, Brabant Prov 2A club RWDM have stated that rumours are unfounded of the club's demise following the arrest of their sporting director earlier this week. The official concerned has been relieved of his duties for the time being and, although I do not know exactly what they are, the charges against him are apparently very serious. RWDM will start the season as expected at Stade Verbist.

WEDNESDAY 4 JULY - PETER ABBOTT
Some news from Belgium.  After appeal, Verb. Geel have today received their licence for next season, hence will play in Div 2 whilst UR Namur remain in Div 3.  Whilst La Louviere are still confident of retaining their place in Div 3 without a merger with UR Centre, Couillet have said that talks with their local authorties have been very positive regards a return to their former home at Fiestaux.

MONDAY 2 JULY - PETER ABBOTT
Latest Belgian club news is that the two clubs, Olympic Charelroi and Couillet, currently playing at Stade Neuville in Charleroi, will have problems in finding an adequate stadium after news that Neuville has failed on 75 key aspects to attain the neccesary ground grading for the coming season. Olympic are thinking of making a request to Sporting Charleroi and Couillet have yet to confirm a possible move to UR Centre in La Louviere. UR Namur / Geel  : UR Namur have received their licence for next season however Verb Geel have not, hence the two clubs may swap positions between Div 2 and 3 - Verb Geel have appealed and this will be heard on Weds 4 July. La Louviere / UR Centre / Rupel Boom / Heppignies : La Louviere´s status remains in doubt and talk is of a merger with UR Centre to retrieve the position. If so, the merged club may have to play in Div 4, ie: UR Centre´s current status. This opens the door for a belated promotion for Rupel Boom (Bleid forfeited their rights back in May) and a reprieve for relegated Heppegnies. Watch this space.

SUNDAY 1 JULY - MARK WYVER
The friendly match next Saturday 7th July between Larkfield & New Hythe Wanderers and Rusthall kicks off at 2.45pm and is not being played on their main pitch but on a pitch behind the clubhouse.
