| | | March 2010 | MONDAY 8th MARCH - DAVE HOWARD
I bought a copy of your magazine earlier this season (No 36 August 2009) when it was mentioned that Stafford Town's new ground had been delayed. Last Saturday (6th) we played our first match, almost 6 years after the first meeting. We have home fixtures under the new floodlights on Tuesday 16th March against Bilston Town in a League fixture KO 7:45pm & Tuesday 23rd March against Dudley Town in the Quarter Final of the JW Hunt Cup KO 7:45pm. I have confirmed that their last home game of this season in 4A against Couillet La Louviere on 2 May 2010 (1500) will be played on a NEW ground in Oostakker some 9 or 10 kms away. I believe that this will be in Eikstraat, but NOT on the previous ground (same address) of SKV Oostakker ex of Oost Vlaanderen Prov 1 back in 2003-04, however if this is confirmed then it will be pretty close. My visit to SKVO was for a 4-1 home win over OLSA Brakel that season on 21 March 2004 The reserves of Gent Zeehaven already play at a former club, FC Oostakker's ground which is literally only around the corner from Eikstraat in Francois Van Impelaan. PS: SKV Oostakker's new ground is in Sint Jozefstraat which again is not too far away, but on the other side of the Dwight Eisenhowerlaan dual carriageway. All to be confirmed so if anyone on this forum pops in to have a look meantime, please let me know what they find out. | MONDAY 1st MARCH - PAUL ROTH Flybe have announced they are to commence daily flights from Kent International Airport (KIA) to Edinburgh, commencing at the end of May and continuing until the end of October. There will be one outbound and one inbound service each day, except Sundays. It's a perfect opportunity for Scottish 'hoppers to sample the multifarious delights that abound here, on the Kentish Riviera! | MONDAY 1st MARCH - SIMON DICKENS This Tuesday evening FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington entertain Almondsbury Town in a league match at Yarnton Road, K.O. 7:45pm. Kidlington’s scheduled match last Saturday against Highworth was postponed because the pitch at Yarnton Road was waterlogged. It is hoped that the Kiddy ground staff will get a chance to get on it to prepare at least a half decent surface for the match with the Almonds. Manager Gordon Geary said “ it was certainly a bit of a miss not having a match Saturday, but the pitch resembled something from ‘the somme’ rather than an area to play football on” Visitors Almondsbury have only lost once in the league this season, against Witney. Kidlington will be hoping for a similar result to the one that they achieved in the floodlit cup earlier this season, a 12- 0 win. However any sort of win would be good from a Kidlington perspective as they continue their quest for a top 6 finish. For Tuesday’s match Mark Baker and Lewis Coyle are suspended and Luke Holden, Kieran Sanders & Ross Gray will be missing because of injury. KFC Squad – ROB HAMLING, TOM McNAMARA, CHRIS WEEDON, DANNY LEGGETT, BRAD CHALMERS, JACK QUAINTON, MARK FLANAGAN, JIMMY DEABILL, JORDAN PARKER, ADAM LOVEGROVE, LEE BOLTON, JACK JOHNSON, BEN WILLOUGHBY, JAMIE DEBANKS, NATHAN GEARY & STEVE LITTEN |

Kidlington’s form has dipped of late and Manager Gordon Geary will be looking to put this right against Highworh at the weekend. Geary said “ It’s been a taxing time of late and some of the players are feeling the pace of playing so many matches on such muddy pitches. We are a footballing side and have struggled on these surfaces. Injury’s, suspensions and these glutinous pitches they have been forced to play on lately have hampered the sides progress, but with several players becoming available again hopefully things will be looking up again soon”. It mustn’t be forgotten just how far Geary’s side have come this season, for several of the players this is their first real season of senior men’s football at this level and they have done really well to have been constantly in the top 10 of the division all season. For Saturday’s match Kieran Sanders will face a late fitness test. Mark Baker and Lewis Coyle are suspended and Luke Holden, Darren McNamara & James Philpott will be missing because of injury. KFC Squad – TOM McNAMARA, ROB HAMLING, CHRIS WEEDON, DANNY LEGGETT, BRAD CHALMERS, JACK QUAINTON, MARK FLANAGAN, JACK QUAINTON, KIERAN SANDERS, JIMMY DEABILL, JORDAN PARKER, ADAM LOVEGROVE, JACK JOHNSON, BEN WILLOUGHBY, LEE BOLTON, TOM CASTLE, LEE RENDELL, RICHARD BROOKS, NATHAN GEARY & ROSS GRAY | WEDNESDAY 24th FEBRUARY - TONY INCENZO The next match in the Middlesex League's series of Saturday morning groundhopper fixtures has been confirmed as: Saturday, March 20 - kick off 11am Sandgate v Grosvenor House – a Division One (West) fixture at Bourne Farm Playing Fields, Bourne Avenue, Hayes, Middlesex UB4 Admission is free and match programmes will be on sale at £2. Sporting Hackney won an exciting encounter 4-3 and the attendance was 82. | MONDAY 22nd FEBRUARY - SIMON DICKENS This Tuesday evening FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington entertain Wantage Town in a league match at Yarnton Road, K.O. 7:45pm. On Saturday Kidlington turned in their poorest performance of the season and lost 2 – 1 to basement boys Bicester Town. On a terrible pitch at Bicester the home side adapted far better to the conditions and after Kidlington were reduced to 10 men deservedly took all three points. Kidlington manager Gordon Geary still fuming about his team’s performance said “ I felt that we were very poor against Bicester and I will be making changes to the side ahead of our match with Wantage”. He added that “ I warned them prior to the match that they would face a side scrapping for every ball. They didn’t heed my warning and in the end we got what we deserved, nothing” Kidlington will have Mark Baker and Jack Quainton back in contention and Geary added that “ we certainly missed these two players, their engines are immense ”. The good news for Kidlington is that Jimmy Deabill made a scoring return and the 90 minutes he played was certainly money in the bank for the big striker as he strives to regain full match fitness. Luke Holden, Darren McNamara and James Philpott & Lewis Coyle will be missing because of injury and Richard Brooks is suspended KFC Squad – ROB HAMLING, TOM McNAMARA, CHRIS WEEDON, DANNY LEGGETT, BRAD CHALMERS, JACK QUAINTON, MARK FLANAGAN, MARK BAKER, KIERAN SANDERS, JIMMY DEABILL, JORDAN PARKER, ADAM LOVEGROVE, JACK JOHNSON, BEN WILLOUGHBY, DANNY MORGAN, TOM CASTLE, LEE RENDELL, NATHAN GEARY & ROSS GRAY | SUNDAY 21st FEBRUARY - MARK KETTLETY Thursday 25th February 2010 Kick off 7.45pm 2009 East Anglian Cup Final Tilbury v Halstead Town at Tilbury FC, Chadfields, Tilbury This Final has been held over from last season and a special 40 page programme is being issued. | FRIDAY 19th FEBRUARY - STEVE WELLS The Histon v. Chester match tomorrow (Saturday 20th February) in the Blue Square Conference is OFF. Admission is free and match programmes will be on sale at £2. Please email Sporting Hackney at Ben.Watson@coi.gsi.gov.uk to confirm your interest so that the club know how many programmes to produce. | FRIDAY 5th FEBRUARY - PETER ABBOTT Belgium - w-e 06-07 Feb 2010 matches OFF League 2 : KAS Eupen-United Overpelt-Lommel (re-arranged for 08 Feb 2010 ko 2000) 4C : Malmundaria-Faymonville 4D : Ent. Bertrigeoise-RUW Ciney 4D : Lor. Arlon-RJ Wavre Luxembourg Prov all OFF | THURSDAY 4th FEBRUARY - SIMON DICKENS This Saturday afternoon FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Wantage Town for a league match, k.o. 3-00pm. On Tuesday evening a very depleted Kidlington side took on Marlow United and lost 2 - 0. Kidlington had 8 first team regulars missing, but still did enough to have deserved to have got something out of the match. However as Manager Gordan Geary stated “ if you don’t find the net then you will always be up against it”. For the match at Wantage Kidlington have still hopes that a few of their players will have recovered. However certainly out will be Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill, James Philpott and Darren McNamara. Kidlington’s management will be keeping their fingers crossed that Jack Quainton, Kieran Sanders, Mark Flanagan, Tom McNamara, Ben Willoughby and Lee Rendell come through fitness checks. KFC Squad – ROB HAMLING, TOM McNAMARA, CHRIS WEEDON, DANNY LEGGETT, BRAD CHALMERS, LEWIS COYLE, MARK FLANAGAN, MARK BAKER, KIERAN SANDERS, JACK QUAINTON, JORDAN PARKER, BEN WILLOUGHBY, ADAM LOVEGROVE, JACK JOHNSON, DANNY MORGAN, LEE RENDELL, ROSS GRAY, KEITH MITCHELL, JERRY KAPRAL, LEE BOLTON, STEVE LITTEN & RICHARD NORRIS | THURSDAY 4th FEBRUARY - OLIVER LEISNER Just heard from a friend in Belgium that RRCP will play already from 14.02.2010 on in Stade le Cannonier in Mouscron! Couldn´t confirm this with any website. But search for news in French and google translator. I read something at skynet.be “Peruwelz jouera a Mouscron a la reprise”… | THURSDAY 4th FEBRUARY - PETER ABBOTT Perhaps not surprising with all the talk of Excelsior Mouscron (folded) merging with Peruwelz at the end of the season, RRC have switched 2 fixtures to the former Jupiler Pro League club's ground, Stade du Canonnier 14.02.2010 - 15:00 R.RC.Peruwelz - K.Diegem Sport 21.02.2010 - 14:30 R.RC.Peruwelz - URS.Du Centre Both confirmed at Stade du Cannonier. My understanding is currently that Mouscron will return next season in Div 4, however should they sign-up to a merger with Peruwelz, they would then play in Div 3 and in both cases at Stade du Canonnier. | MONDAY 1st FEBRUARY - STEVE KING As a result of our new year clearance sale on back issues, they are selling quickly and some issues are now down to the last few copies. On Saturday Kidlington came from behind to defeat a very spirited Shrivenham - their goals coming from Luke Holden and Mark Baker. Unfortunately this victory has come at a cost as Mark Flanagan, Luke Holden & Jack Quinton all received injuries during the match. “Kidlington’s injury list is growing larger everyday” bemoaned manager Gordon Geary. Geary said “we now have an injury list as long as your arm, Tom and Darren McNamara , Jimmy Deabill, Ben Willoughby and James Philpott were already out and now we have these three joining the list. I will have to add more players to our squad for the trip to Marlow, but I’m relatively comfortable with this, as the players I will call up will be quality replacements”. Geary had some good and some bad news on the injuries to his joint leading scorers. Jimmy Deabill has had x-ray’s and they didn’t reveal a break in his ankle, however Luke Holden looks to have damaged ligaments. Geary is waiting for confirmation of this. KFC Squad – ROB HAMLING, CHRIS WEEDON, DANNY LEGGETT, BRAD CHALMERS, LEWIS COYLE, MARK FLANAGAN, MARK BAKER, KIERAN SANDERS, JORDAN PARKER, ADAM LOVEGROVE, JACK JOHNSON, DANNY MORGAN, LEE RENDELL, ROSS GRAY, KEITH MITCHELL, JERRY KAPRAL, LEE BOLTON, JAMIE DEBANKS, STEVE LITTEN & RICHARD BROOKS |
| January 2010 | MONDAY 25th JANUARY - TONY INCENZO The next match in the Middlesex League's series of Saturday morning groundhopper kick-offs has been confirmed as: Saturday, February 20 - kick off 11am Sporting Hackney versus St Johns Arsenal Deaf FC - a Division One (Central & East) fixture at Haggerston Park, Yorkton Street, off Hackney Road, London E2 8NH. Admission is free and match programmes will be on sale at £2. Please email Sporting Hackney at Ben.Watson@coi.gsi.gov.uk to confirm your interest so that the club know how many programmes to produce. | MONDAY 25th JANUARY - SIMON DICKENS This Wednesday evening (27-01-10) FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division League side Kidlington FC are taking on Blue Square side Oxford United in the ¼ final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, KO 7-45 pm at Yarnton Road. Kidlington are hoping for a good crowd especially as Oxford United have informed us they will be sending a strong squad to contest the match. Oxford United are Oxfordshire’s top side and are pushing to get back up into the Football League again this season. They led the Conference table for many weeks, but owing to the bad weather over the Christmas period suffer several match postponements and have been overtaken by Stevenage Borough. However, Oxford have games in hand and currently sit second in the table one point behind Stevenage with a superior goal difference. Kidlington are having a fine season of their own under the leadership of Manager Gordon Geary and sit in 5th position in the Hellenic Premier Division. Last Saturday Kiddy beat Flackwell Heath 3 – 0 at Yarnton Road playing stylish football, and are themselves unbeaten in their last 6 matches. Geary said that “for me and my players this is a dream draw and we are thoroughly looking forward to the challenge”. Kidlington have a very young squad and have done extremely well in the league in this their centenary season. Just before Christmas Kidlington beat previously unbeaten league leaders Reading Town 2- 1. Earlier in the season Kidlington played a very entertaining match against Oxford City in the FA Cup, after leading twice they finally bowed out 4 -2 in a game played at Court Place Farm. For this match Kidlington are advising people to come early and because of parking restriction near their ground are asking people to either walk to the ground or use the car park facility at Exeter Hall on the main Oxford Road. The other option would to use the public bus service that travel along Yarnton Road and stop directly outside the ground. For the match admission prices will remain frozen at £5 with a programme, £4 without & concessions are £2. Please be advised that this match must be finished on the night so it’s extra time & penalties if required. | FRIDAY 22nd JANUARY - ROB HORNBY The seventh Abacus Lighting Central Midlands League “Football Bonanza” will take place on 6 March 2009. Saturday begins with a trip to the Low Farm Recreation Ground as Easington United take on Hutton Cranswick United at 10.30am in the Premier Division. It’s then off to Brough, and the Blackburn Leisure Club ground of Westella and Willerby as they host Parramore Sports at 2.15pm in the Supreme Division. Finally we head for Louth Town’s Park Avenue ground as they host Nettleham at 7pm. Only three games this year due to the rather large amount of travelling between some of the CML’s most far-flung outposts! The advanced ticket for the 3 Central Midlands Football League matches will be £10 which will include admission to all 3 Central Midlands Football Leagues and a pack of all 3 matchday programmes, for more details please contact Rob Hornby on 01623 486678 or for a booking form please e-mail robhornby60uk@yahoo.co.uk . closing date for the advanced tickets will be Friday 26th February 2010. PLEASE NOTE:- I have received a call from AFC Hull to say that they can't stage the Friday evening fixture that had been arranged v. Quaddy Rangers 8pm k.o. in the East Riding Amateur League. I am working on another club at present who look very promising to take up the Friday evening with a match. Once I have that fixture I will provide an update on here. | FRIDAY 22nd JANUARY - KEARON BROWN Kirkburton play Sheffield FC in the the last 8 of the Sheffield Cup this coming weekend 23rd Jan 2010 kick off 1pm.The game as been switched to Hallas Rd, Kirkburton. A 20 page programme will be available for the cost of £1. For further information log onto http://www.soccerweekend.com/team/index.asp?teamid=29691 | THURSDAY 21st JANUARY - SIMON DICKENS This Saturday afternoon FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington are back in league action against Flackwell Heath in a re-arranged fixture at Yarnton Road, K.O. 3:00pm. Last Tuesday evening Kidlington won comfortably against Carterton Town 3 - 1 in the 3rd round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, which has now set up the mouth watering prospect of a home tie with Oxford United in the quarter final of this year’s competition. A date for this fixture is yet to be finalised, but it is expected that the match will take place in early to mid February. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary said “The lads performed exceptionally well against Carterton, I was very pleased with their overall fitness and positivity and of course the result, especially as we knew before the game that the prize for winning would be to host Oxfordshire’s top side at home at our Yarnton Road ground. This is a great opportunity for us in this our centenary season and believe me I will be going all out to win this match and progress to the semi final stage as we did a couple of seasons back”. For Saturday’s match with Flackwell Kidlington will have Chris Weedon and Ross Gray back after suspension and unavailability. Also available will be Adam Lovegrove after he resigned for the club a couple of weeks back. Lovegrove was ineligible for the Carterton match as he was cup tied, but he is added to this squad. Kidlington will give late fitness tests to Jimmy Deabill and Jack Johnson, both are struggling at the moment, but Geary wants’ to give both the lads the as much time as possible to recover as he possibly can. Geary added though “ if these lads aren’t 100% on the day we have a big squad and I won’t risk them”. On the down side Kidlington will still be without Tom McNamara, Ben Willoughby and Darren McNamara, these lads are still recovering from injuries. Also missing will be Sam Fincher who is serving a suspension. KFC Squad – ROB HAMLING, CHRIS WEEDON, JAMES PHILPOTT, DANNY LEGGETT, BRAD CHALMERS, JACK QUAINTON, LEWIS COYLE, MARK FLANAGAN, MARK BAKER, KIERAN SANDERS, LUKE HOLDEN, JIMMY DEABILL, JORDAN PARKER, ADAM LOVEGROVE, JACK JOHNSON, DANNY MORGAN, LEE RENDELL & ROSS GRAY | MONDAY 18th JANUARY - STEVE KING Please note that the Hampshire Premier League match scheduled for 2.00pm today at Team Solent v. Bournemouth University has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch. | | MONDAY 18th JANUARY - SIMON DICKENS This Tuesday evening FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division side Kidlington are due to travel to fellow Hellenic Premier side Carterton for a re-arranged Oxfordshire Senior Cup 3 round tie, K.O. 7-45pm. Every team in the area has been football starved for the last few weeks and it is expected that both teams will be chomping at the bit to get out there and play a competitive match. Kidlington’s last two performances have seen them gain important victories against current league leaders Reading Town back in December and then a hard fought victory against Garsington in the 2nd round of the OSC, back on January 2nd. “We have been able to keep themselves ticking over by training regularly, but there is nothing like playing a full 11 aside match” said manager Gordon Geary. During this period of inactivity Geary has not been resting on his laurels and has signed a couple of players. Ex-Oxford City man Lee Rendell has joined and is added to the squad for Carterton, also signed is Adam Lovegrove. He re-joins Kidlington from Old Woodstock Town, unfortunately Lovgrove is cup tied so he will have to wait to don the Green Jersey again. There is now added spice to this match as the winner have been drawn to Play Oxford United at home in the 4th round of this competition, so if the players needed encouragement to progress then this news will surely be it. Kidlington will be without Chris Weedon and Sam Fincher who are both suspended. Also missing will be Darren McNamara and Ben Willoughby because of injury. Striker Jimmy Deabill will face a late fitness test on an ankle injury, but Geary is hopeful the big striker will be OK. KFC Squad - TOM McNAMARA, ROB HAMLING, ROSS GRAY, JAMES PHILPOTT, BRAD CHALMERS, LEWIS COYLE, KIERAN SANDERS, MARK BAKER, JIMMY DEABILL, LUKE HOLDEN, JORDAN PARKER, DANNY MORGAN, MARK FLANAGAN, DANNY LEGGETT, JACK JOHNSON, JACK QUAINTON & LEE RENDALL | FRIDAY 15th JANUARY - PETER ABBOTT Belgian matches off w/e 15-17 January.....League Div 4 (ie: Promotion / Bevordering) all OFF Brabant Prov all OFF ... plus FC Brussels / Royal Antwerp (Div 2) is OFF Therefore, that only leaves the following ON (as I write) League Div 1 (Jupiler) + Div 2 (EXQI) and Div 3A +3B Oost Vlaanderen West Vlaanderen | FRIDAY 15th JANUARY - BRIAN BUCK According to the Dagenham & Redbridge website their youth match against Leyton Orient on Saturday on the 3G pitch opposite the Orient ground has now been postponed. | THURSDAY 14th JANUARY - PETER ABBOTT Belgian weekend 15-17 Jan Hainaut Prov all OFF Namur Prov all OFF Brabant Prov - decision due 1000 GMT Friday 15 Jan Antwerpen Prov all OFF Tonight's Belgian Cup match Zulte Waregem - Cercle Bruges is OFF | THURSDAY 14th JANUARY - BRIAN BUCK On Saturday 16th January Dagenham & Redbridge Youth have switched their Football League Youth Alliance match against Leyton Orient to the Score Community Building 3G pitch, 100 Oliver Road, Leyton, E10 5JY (opposite where the junction of Buckingham Road meets Oliver Road, on the other side of the road to Orient's ground) (11am kick off.) We are keen to get the magazines out asap because from my understanding of the weather forecast, after a slightly milder few days there will be another very cold snap next week with a possibility of more heavy snow on the cards towards the end of next week. | WEDNESDAY 13th JANUARY - DAVE GRAHAM Ilkeston Town v Fleetwood Town Blue Square North Saturday 16th January switched to Fleetwood Town FC & it will be Fleetwood's home game & they will be issuing the programme. The expected heavy snowfall overnight and today in the South of England thankfully did not materialise and the long-term weather forecast for this coming week sounds slightly more promising with a slow thaw over the coming days possibly taking place. Because of this, there is a chance we may be able to get Issue 42 posted out to subscribers on the original advertised date of Friday 15th January after all although it will depend on the weather over the coming days and talking with our Billericay-based printers. Please look for further updates throughout the week for more information. | SATURDAY 9th JANUARY - STEVE KING Unfortunately because of the continuing severe winter weather which we are experiencing at the moment and no sign of improvements for the next 7 - 10 days at least, the next issue of Non-League Digest (No.42 cover date February 2010) will be delayed by a week to Friday 22nd January 2010. This is because the magazines are delivered to the Non-League Digest office by road from the printers who are based in Billericay, Essex. With little prospect next week of any sort of thaw and roads extremely treacherous in many places, a decision has been made to delay Issue 42 by a week in the hope that conditions improve enough to enable the magazines to be delivered here from the printers. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but hopefully most will understand the reasons for the delay due to the weather conditions. | THURSDAY 7th JANUARY - PETER ABBOTT Belgian matches off this weekend 9/10 January......ALL National Belgian League games OFF Plus ALL National games OFF up to and including next Thurs 14 Jan 2010 except Div 2 matches currently scheduled for Weds 13 Jan (decision due Mon 11 Jan) Provincial matches OFF :- Antwerpen Brabant Hainaut Oost Vlaanderen Luxembourg Liege + Namur + Limburg + West Vlaanderen Provincial games ALL OFF 13 Jan 2009 - Zulte Waregem v Cercle Bruges - Belgian Cup re-arranged game - still ON (at the moment) | TUESDAY 5th JANUARY - SIMON DICKENS After a mid-day pitch inspection Kidlington's match with Wantage Town this evening is postponed. This was no real surprise as the pitch had been frozen solid for a few days now. With the weather forecast looking pretty bleak the chances of football this weekend must be in the balance, not to mention any games fixtured for next week. All we can do now is hope for a change in weather conditions, as the pitch here is showing frost into the pitch to a depth of 4 or 5 inches in some places. The problem when we do get 'the thaw' will be water on the laying surface. | MONDAY 4th JANUARY - SIMON DICKENS After beating the freeze at the weekend and gaining a valuable 1 - 0 victory against Garsington in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup 2nd round, FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington turn their attentions to League action this Tuesday evening, when Wantage Town will be the visitors to Yarnton Road, 7:45pm k.o. The match at the moment has to be a doubt. The present weather conditions are -2 C at Yarnton Road with the pitch frozen solid. However with our British weather you never know what may be possible? Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary is organising his players as usual and will have both Mark Baker and Kieran Sanders back from suspension. Brad Chalmers has also recovered from injury and will also join the squad along with goalkeeper Rob Hamling. Kidlington will be without Ben Willoughby, Tom McNamara, Mark Flanagan & Darren McNamara because of injury but all 4 players are on the mend. Geary stated that "if we can get this match on I will be delighted, we had a good win against Garsington on Saturday and you always want to keep playing games to keep things ticking over". The pitch is due to be inspected at mid-day tomorrow (Tuesday) and a further decision will be made after this has taken place. | MONDAY 4th JANUARY - STEVE KING The latest issue of the magazine can now be sent out FREE OF CHARGE to new readers who may want to see Non-League Digest before committing to a subscription.
