NEW  WEDNESDAY 31st DECEMBER - PETER ABBOTT
Amendments to forthcoming Belgian TV games as follows:-
14.02.2009 - 18:00   Germinal Beerschot Antw. - Cercle Brugge K.SV.   au lieu de 14.02.2009 - 20:00
15.02.2009 - 18:00   Sp.du Pays de Charleroi - R.SC.Anderlecht    au lieu de 14.02.2009 - 20:00
15.02.2009 - 20:30   Club Brugge KV. - K.RC.Genk   au lieu de 14.02.2009 - 20:00

NEW  WEDNESDAY 24th DECEMBER - PETER ABBOTT

Belgian Div 3 club RRC Peruwelz's player Freddy Bula has apparently not been properly registered this season with the Belgian FA. This has been the case since the beginning of the season although he has not played in all their games (14 played, 27 points). As a result, following this case a decision has been made and RRC Peruwelz have lost 26 points and drop to the bottom of the table with only 2 points, both obtained from draws on their last 2 Sunday matches. The club have also been fined 235 euros. The club will appeal.

TUESDAY 23rd DECEMBER - PETER ABBOTT
Belgium's next 2 home games will be played at RC Genk rather than the Heysel.  Stade Roi Baudouin is ruled out due to current improvement work to both the pitch and the athletics track.
11 Feb 2009 home friendly versus Slovenia
28 March 2009 World Cup qualifier versus Bosnia Herzogovina
If the work is not completed by the time of the Belgian Cup Final in May 2009, that match may instead be played over 2 legs.

FRIDAY 19th DECEMBER - PETER ABBOTT

The Belgian FA have temporarily lifted La Louviere's sanction until the matter is fully discussed on 10 January 2009 !

THURSDAY 18th DECEMBER - BRIAN BUCK

I have heard on BBC Three Counties Radio this morning that Berkhamsted Town will fold within two weeks unless they can find £10,000. Their Herts Senior Cup match at home to Stevenage Borough was called off on Tuesday because the club's electricity had been cut off. Stevenage Borough have been awarded a walkover. The club have been operating without a chairman for over a year now. It is thought that the club's match against Brimsdown Rovers might be their last game.

THURSDAY 18th DECEMBER - BRIAN BUCK

With reference to John Treleven's previous posting, the scorers timings for the Barnet Youth match are: Brett (18 & 49) & Chiagro (90) and Bremford (53). I didn't go to the other matches he refers to.

WEDNESDAY 17th DECEMBER - PETER ABBOTT

No more ... ... La Louviere ? As a consequence of the Belgian FA "not" meeting yesterday to discuss the future of La Louviere, the famous old Belgium Div 3A club (matricule 93), the club cannot continue to play !
With immediate effect, the club will not be able to play football (nor all of its associated reserve or youth teams) until the club pays its debts (100,000 euros) with respect to Rogiero and Marc Grosjean and the Belgian FA agrees to them fulfilling their fixture this coming weekend at Standard Wetteren (21 Dec - 14:30 ko).
Only last Sunday, the second bottom placed club travelled the short distance to Boussu Dour Borinage (Francs Borains) and drew 1-1 with their closest rivals. Remember, if the club fail to fulfil 3 consecutive matches, this would invoke article 1528, clause 11, which states that clubs who "forfait" 3 consecutive matches (or 5 non-consecutive matches) during the season, will have relinquished their right to remain in the league ! This is what the FA calls "radiation" and will spell the end of Matricule 93.

been properly registered this season with the Belgian FA. This has been the case since the beginning of the season although he has not played in all their games (14 played, 27 points). If found guilty and the ultimate sanction is applied, Peruwelz will lose 26 points ! Decision due next Tuesday 23 Dec !

TUESDAY 16th DECEMBER - PETER ABBOTT

The new issue of Non-League Digest (Issue 29 - January 2009) contains my latest Belgian weekend article covering recent trips to FC Seraing and CS Welkenraedt. However, since that was penned, talk now is of FC Seraing having on Sunday played their "last ever" game; 14 December, losing 0-3 at home to SC Wijgmaal.
The club says that with everything that has gone on and with no money coming in, they cannot carry on as they are into the New Year and will consider forfeiting all their matches after Xmas. The bourgemestre (mayor) of Seraing has met with the club and that of FC Seresien and a fusion is on the cards. Agreement was reached that trainer and some players would
switch across "the road" in the January transfer window. FC Seraing B (their reserves) will continue to play in Liege Prov 4 and in time, hope to rise again through the levels.
Haven't we been here before ?

THURSDAY 30th OCTOBER - MAREN DALLMANN

Please find below a press release from our chairman about the transfer of Michail Anthony to Reading.

“Tooting & Mitcham United have completed the transfer of Michail Antonio to Championship club Reading. The 18 year old who had made such an impact on the Ryman League Premier this season moved for an undisclosed fee.

Steve Adkins, Chairman of the Terrors, said: - “We are absolutely delighted for Michail and we are very proud of what he has achieved after such a short time in the 1st team. Michail has come through our system and shows what is possible with hard work and the right attitude and is an example to the Club’s other youngsters. Michail is a credit to all who have helped with his development as a player.

Our philosophy is that we will never stand in the way of a young player who has the talent and application to move into the professional game. We believe that Reading is just the right club for Michail with its track record for bringing on players. We are building a good relationship with Reading which can only be good for both of our clubs. As part of the deal Reading will be playing a friendly at Imperial Fields next pre-season”

Michail who has already played for Reading’s reserves while on trial there has been given squad number 28.

Nick Hammond, Reading’s Director of Football, in welcoming Michail to the club, said of him: -

We have some very talented young players at Reading Football Club already and Michail is going to come in and learn alongside that group of players. This is a great opportunity for him to thrive in a professional footballing environment and we wish him the best of luck at Reading.”

Launton are presently bottom of Division One East, and without a league win so far this season. Kidlington who's own league form, just at the moment is none to special will not be taking this game lightly though, and will take a full squad to pick from.
Skipper Emmett McGovern, Danny Warne and Mark Flanagan all return, whilst the only noticeable absentee will be Denel Thomas who is suspended.
Team From:- TUCKER, GABBIDON, FLANAGAN, KAPRAL, C.BAKER, DOYLE, WARNE, CATTELL, McGOVERN, BOLTON, M.BAKER, DEABILL, WILLIAMS, MUNDY, WISE, LOVEGROVE & HAYWARD.
THURSDAY 23rd OCTOBER - SIMON DICKENS
This Saturday Afternoon FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division side Kidlington host Shortwood United at Yarnton Road for League match K.O. 3:00 pm. Last Saturday Kidlington took their first league point since September the 6th when they drew 1 - 1 at Abingdon Town. During the week Kidlington returned to Culham Road for an HPL Floodlit Cup match. This time a goal late in extra time from Skipper Emmett McGovern earned them a deserved 2 - 1 win. For the mid-week cup match Kidlington were able to include new signing Stuart Cattell. Stuart is a 21 year old central defender. He joined Kidlington this week from British Gas football League Division One outfit Aylesbury United and made his Kiddy debut in the HPL Floodlit Cup tie win at Abingdon Town in the week. Stuart joined Aylesbury last February following his release by Wycombe Wanderers, where he spent four years coming through their youth system. After his release he quickly established himself at Aylesbury, and was a member of the First Team squad, in all making 14 appearances for them including four this season. He has previously spent time on loan with Oxford City. He was born in Oxford and was with Southampton as a school boy before joining Wycombe. Many local Clubs were after his signature but we are please he has opted to join us. We welcome Stuart and hope he enjoys playing his football here with us at Yarnton Road. For the Shortwood match Kidlington will be without Jermaine Mcsporran who sustained medial ligament and cartilage damage in the 2 - 2 draw with Abingdon last Saturday. It goes without saying that all of us at Kidlington wish Jermaine a speedy and successful recovery and hope to see him back in the green shirt as soon as possible.
Kidlington will also be without Captain Emmett McGovern who is away and Central defender Danny Warne has tonsillitis.
Marl Flanagan will be back after he missed the mid-week match.
Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward stated that he was "Pleased with the way the team performed against a dogged and committed Abingdon side" and also "extremely pleased to progress to the next round of the Cup of which we are the holders."

Thanks once again to everyone who supported the second Saturday morning game in the Middlesex League at Kodak(Harrow) FC. The official attendance was 113, which was a slight increase on the first game and another great fund-raising success for the host club.
It is hoped that there will be another Saturday morning game in November - date and venue to be confirmed as soon as possible.

FRIDAY 17th OCTOBER - PETER ABBOTT

Both Lille and Heusden Zolder have requested the full sanction against FC Seraing (ie: 5-0 forfait). Seraing have therefore to convince the FA that they allowed enough time and effort and with good reason before announcing they would (could) not play the games.

THURSDAY 16th OCTOBER - PETER ABBOTT

Latest Belgian news....Final decision made.  FC Seraing are to remain in Div 4C.  The club will NOT further appeal the decision. The outcomes of the 2 matches that the club did NOT play (away at Lille, home to Heusden Zolder) has still to be decided. And, with last Sunday's match with Witgoor Sport Dessel having been ABANDONED with 3 mins remaining (3-1 score at that stage), a decision is also awaited on that one. The match was stopped due to crowd trouble. In some of the pictures, you can clearly see fans fighting in the ground and there was apparently also trouble outside. A tough start to life in the league for FC Seraing !

THURSDAY 16th OCTOBER - SIMON DICKENS
This Saturday afternoon FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Abingdon Town for League fixture K.O. 3:00 pm.
Kidlington are currently on a terrible run of league games and are now without a win in six matches as they prepare to take on Abingdon Town at Culham Road on Saturday. Kidlington put in good performance in midweek and very unfortunate to lose 3 - 2 to league leaders Witney United. But that is how it has been going of late. The scoring return of striker Jimmy Deabill made a difference to the team on the night, and but for a brilliant performance from the Blanketmen's goalkeeper Jon Beams Kidlington would have surely got a deserved point from this match. Kidlington's last couple of games have produced improved performances, but it has been silly mistakes again and again that have been letting them down.
Joint Manager Matt Hayward stated that he was "Pleased with the entire teams attitude, especially after going two down to Witney, and then to get back on level terms was excellent". However he was less than complementary about the way that Kidlington then gave Witney the chance to re-establish the lead again so soon after this and in the fashion they did so.
Jermaine Mcsporren should be available again after missing the midweek defeat because of injury. Kidlington have no other injury concerns going into this one, however Captain Emmett McGovern will be missing because of suspension and Morgan Williams and Jerry Kapral are both unavailable.
Team From:- TUCKER, GABBIDON, FLANAGAN, C.BAKER, DOYLE, WARNE, BOLTON, M.BAKER, DEABILL, THOMAS, McSPORRAN, WISE, LOVEGROVE, BAYLIS, HAYWARD.

THURSDAY 16th OCTOBER - PETER ABBOTT

K.SC.Lokeren O.VlK (switched from K.Diegem Sport), K.United Overpelt-Lommel v K.VC.Westerlo.  Also please note that the KV Kortrijk v. R Standard de Liege match has been put back a day to 12th November with a 20:45 k.o. according to both club's websites.

MONDAY 13th OCTOBER - PETER ABBOTT

Regarding FC Seraing, the case was held, decision due next week - however good news, Seraing won yesterday afternoon 3-1.

MONDAY 13th OCTOBER - SIMON DICKENS
This Tuesday evening FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division side Kidlington will entertain Witney United in a League fixture at Yarnton Road K.O. 7:45 pm.
After a bright start to the campaign Kidlington are currently on a terrible run of league matches without a win as they prepare to take on an in form Witney United side at Yarnton Road this Tuesday. Although their last couple of games have produced improved performances, it has been silly mistakes that have been letting them down.
Joint Manager Matt Hayward said that he was "extremely pleased at the way the team have generally applied themselves in their last two outings, against Cheltenham Saracens in the Challenge Cup and at Hungerford at the weekend". However he reaffirmed his belief that "if we can cut out the silly mistakes then we will be able to turn the corner and get back to winning ways".
Kidlington have no injury concerns going into this one, but Captain Emmett McGovern will be missing because of suspension.
Team From:- TUCKER, KAPRAL, GABBIDON, FLANAGAN, C.BAKER, DOYLE, WARNE, BOLTON, M.BAKER, WILLIAMS, THOMAS, McSPORRAN, WISE, LOVEGROVE, HAYWARD.
THURSDAY 9th OCTOBER - SIMON DICKENS
This Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Hungerford Town for a League match K.O. 3:00pm.  After the 3 - 0 mid-week victory away to Cheltenham Saracens in the Preliminary Round of the Insurance Brokers Hellenic Challenge Cup Kidlington will be looking to bring this form into this Saturday's league match.
Joint Manager Matt Hayward said that he was "extremely pleased at the way the team played and to score three without reply was an excellent reward and a job well done." He also added that this was "just the confidence builder the team needed ahead of a couple of tough matches against Hungerford this Saturday and then mid-week against Witney United."
Kidlington also had Jerry Kapral back in the squad for the first time in 6 weeks and he was able to come on as a second half substitute.  Jermaine McSporran, Denel Thomas, Lee Bolton and Danny Wise all return to the squad after missing the midweek win. Missing for the trip will be captain Emmett McGovern because of suspension and Jamie Mundy who is unavailable.  Team From:- TUCKER, KAPRAL, GABBIDON, FLANAGAN, C.BAKER, DOYLE, WARNE, BOLTON, M.BAKER, WILLIAMS, THOMAS, McSPORRAN, WISE, LOVEGROVE, HAYWARD.

TUESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER - PETER ABBOTT
FC Liege are temporarily at CS Verviers, but will soon be temporarily at FC Seresien and then SK Tongeren.
Belgian Division 2 side will play at Stade du Pairay in Rue de la Boverie, home of Division 3B side, FC Seresien from the weekend of the 12 October 2008, probably on the Friday as FC Seresien are also at home that weekend. A couple of security camera's are broken and need repairing before then. The club expect to play 5 home matches at that venue before moving again, this time to share with SK Tongeren from the New Year. The 1st match, Op De Keiberg in Vrijheidweg just to the North East of Tongeren, is penciled-in for 11 January against Eupen.
FC Liege are currently playing at Stade du Bielmont, home of CS Verviers as their usual ground of the last few years in Ans is not up to scratch for the 2nd level of Belgian football.
FC Liege's hopes for an all-new stadium in Alleur (close to Ans and Rocourt) is still to be finalised.

TUESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS

Kidlington were unable to find the net in either of these matches so the Management team of Kelvin Alexis and Matt Heyward will be looking at this with a view to improving the quality of service to the strikers.

Lee Bolton returns to the squad after missing the weekend defeat, but Jerry Kapral is still sidelined with an ankle injury.

Team From:- TUCKER, GABBIDON, FLANAGAN, C.BAKER, McGOVERN, DOYLE, WARNE, BOLTON, M.BAKER, WILLIAMS, THOMAS, McSPORRAN, MUNDY, WISE, BAYLISS, LOVEGROVE.

THURSDAY 25th SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS

HTL Futbol Hellenic Veteran Premier Division side Kidlington recorded a creditable win in their first league outing of the season away to Moreton Rangers last night. A debut goal from Darren McNamara was enough to give the reigning champions a 1 – 0 victory as they go in search of a third successive league title. Assistant player-manager Warren Jones reported that his side had "several chances to secure an even greater victory" but he felt that his team members must have left their shooting boots at home. He also stated that "the pitch over at Moreton was not the best even likening it to a ‘cow field’". He reported no injury and said that he and his team mates were "looking forward to next weeks match against Chinnor" to be played at Abingdon Town’s Cullam Road ground next Wednesday.

This Saturday  FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington entertain Fairford Town at Yarnton Road in a league match K.O. 3:00pm. After their mid-week defeat to Carterton Town Kidlington will be looking to bounce back to form in this one against Fairford. On Tuesday evening it was hard to believe that the team Kidlington had out was the very same one that had overcome league leaders Chalfont Wasps in the FA Vase the previous weekend.

Kidlington joint Manager Matt Hayward stated that he thought the Carterton match "Really was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show" he felt that the team after doing reasonably well in the first half resorted to bad habits once they went behind early in the second period and "that is what ultimately cost them".

For the Fairford match defender Jerry Kapral will face a late fitness check, although the match may come a little too soon for him. Captain Emmett McGovern looks to be out of contention because of the injury he picked up against Carterton, other than this Hayward reports that  “we should have a full squad to pick from”.

Team From:- TUCKER, GABBIDON, FLANAGAN, C.BAKER, McGOVERN, DOYLE, WARNE, BOLTON, M.BAKER, WILLIAMS, THOMAS, MUNDY, WISE, BAYLISS, LOVEGROVE & KAPRLE.

THURSDAY 18th SEPTEMBER - PETER ABBOTT

Following the knock-on effects of Verb Geel (Div 2 club now folded); Union La Calamine (not now relegated from Div 3); and FC Bioul (bonus promotion place to Div 4), we now have a new ongoing saga concerning Belgian League Div 4 club (newly promoted) side, FC Seraing. Seraing were initially confirmed in Div 4D following their promotion from the Liege Province. However, following Bioul's appeal against having to play in Div 4C following their (nice surprise) promotion and just two days
before the start of this season, Bioul were allowed in Div 4D.  Seraing were then "dumped" into Div 4C instead.  Div 4C comprises Antwerpen and Limburg province clubs, thus meaning now lengthy (and all at short notice) trips for Seraing. Bioul and Seraing then commenced their seasons in Div 4D and 4C respectively.  Under protest, Seraing played at home and lost 2-4 to Sint Lenaerts. The club then refused to play at Heidbloem Lille the following weekend and at home to Heusden Zolder last Sunday. Their appeal against the decision is now set for Tuesday 30 September, ie: another two games away. Now the fun starts, because if Seraing do not play this weekend away at Heist,. they will have failed to play 3 consecutive matches. This could then potentially invoke article 1528, clause 11, which states that clubs who "forfait" 3 consecutive matches or 5 non-consecutive matches during the season will have relinquished their right to remain in the league ! My information is that the club will indeed play at Hiest and at also home to Leopoldsburg the following Sunday (a game I currently plan to attend - at the Rue du Teris complexe across the road from the Boverie complex).
They will then await their fate on the 30 Sept knowing they can afford to then "forfait" another two games thereafter if they don't like the decision - amazing ! At this stage, their favoured hope is that Div 4D is increased to 17 clubs and Div 4C plays with only 15.

THURSDAY 18th SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS

This Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington entertain Chalfont Wasps in an FA Vase match at Yarnton Road K.O. 3:00pm.

After losing their unbeaten league record against a hard working Wantage Town side last weekend Kidlington bounced back with a mid-week victory against a strong Oxford United XI on Wednesday evening. Kidlington's goals all coming in the first half were scored by Chris Baker, Morgan Williams and Danny Wise.

This win was all the more pleasing because earlier in the week striker Jimmy Deabill and winger Danny Clarke had opted to leave their Home Town Club for other local teams. Deabill has moved to Southern League side Abingdon United, whilst Clarke who was the subject of a seven day approach from Hellenic Premier Division rivals Ardley United was made an offer that he just couldn't refuse and we at Kidlington did not want to stand in his way.

Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward said "it was extremely disappointing to lose two such influential players from our squad". He went on to add that "he understood why the lads had chosen to leave especially Deabill who is still young and in his development phase and wished to try his luck at a higher level, as for Clarke he was given an offer from Ardley which we could not come close to matching". We wish them pair well at their new clubs and they both leave Kidlington Football Club on the best of terms.

On the injury front Adam Doyle successfully came through 90 minutes against Oxford United whilst  Jerry Kapral who injured his ankle a couple of weeks back was unable to participate and is defiantly looking a doubtful starter for the Wasps match.

TUESDAY 16th SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS
FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington are to entertain an Oxford United XI at Yarnton Road tomorrow (Wed 17-09-08) evening K.O. 7:45pm.
With both teams without a midweek fixture this match has been hastily arranged to give both teams a run out. Kidlington lost their unbeaten start to this seasons league campaign against Wantage Town at the weekend so Joint Management pair of Kelvin Alexis and Matt Hutton will be glad of the work out for their squad.
There will be reduced admission for this match £2 for Adults and £1 for concessions.

THURSDAY 11th SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS
This Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington entertain Wanatge Town at Yarnton Road K.O. 3:00pm.

After the hard fought mid-week home draw against Ardley United Kidlington are now the only team left unbeaten in the Hellenic Premier Division. With the form Kidlington are showing at the moment they will go into this match full of confidence. But against a side like Wantage you know you are always going to be at your best to beat them.

Kidlington Joint Manager Hayward said that "the draw against Ardley was all the more pleasing because of the way it was attained. We had far more chance to score during the 90 minutes against our visitors but found their keeper in inspired form, so with time running out we had to do something special to get anything out of the match and that 25 yard strike from Denel Thomas was just that".

On the down side Kidlington have suffered a couple of injuries in the last week with Jerry Kapral who injured his ankle last weekend, and subsequently missed the midweek match looking a doubtful starter. There will also be late fitness tests for Danny Warne and Adam Doyle.

MONDAY 8th SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS

This Tuesday evening FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington are at home to Ardley United in a league match K.O. 7:45pm at Yarnton Road.

We are expecting another tough match against another of our near neighbours. In the past week we have had local derbys aginst Bicester Town here at Yarnton Road which we drew 1 - 1 and then last Saturday we gained a 2 - 1 victory away to Premier Division new boys Old Woodstock Town.

Tomorrow Defender Jerry Kapral will face a late fitness test after injuring his ankel in the match against Woodstock, but other than this Joint Manager Matt Hayward reports that we will be at full strengthHayward went on to add that he and Kelvin Alexis were "very pleased at the way things have been going on the pitch so far this season" and that the "Woodstock victory was very pleasing because of the way the team performed throughout the match and the quality of the two goals". He added that he was "really looking forward to this match against Ardley because our they are managed this season by Ex-Banbury United Manager Kevin Brock" who Hayward played under when he was with the Puritans.

Longwell Green Sports of Bristol are playing at home on Saturday 6th Sept against Shrewton United in their first ever FA Vase match  - KO 3.00pm.   Ground : Shellards Road. Longwell Green, Bristol, BS30
Chris Wyrill (Chairman).

THURSDAY 4th SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS

This Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington are away to Old Woodstock Town in a league fixture K.O. 3:00pm. This season Woodstock are ground sharing with Southern Leage Club Abingdon United at Northcourt Road because their New Road Ground does not meet the requirements for an English F.A. Club at step 5 of the football pyramid.

We are expecting another tough match against another of our near neighbours after our midweek draw with Bicester Town. Kidlington will have Jerry Kapral back for this one after he was delayed in London by traffic problems for the Bicester game and missed the match. Chris Baker who received a knock in midweek should recover so Kidlington will be at full strength.

I hope you can pass on this information via your magazine & web.

WEDNESDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER - PETER ABBOTT

Following the surprise decision late last week that FC Bioul 81 would finally swap divisions with FC Seraing (FC Bioul won 3-2 at Ciney and Seraing lost 2-4 at home to Sint Lenaerts) FC Seraing have now announced that they will NOT play their Div 4C game away at Heidbloem Lille this weekend ! They have confirmed that they will NOT continue in Div 4C and want to
remain in Div 4D even if it means that division has to play with 17 clubs ! And, FC Liege have been told that the required works at Buraufosse will now NOT be ready until April 2009.  The club "hope" to therefore stay at CS Verviers until the end of the season but this is not confirmed.

MONDAY 1st SEPTEMBER - SIMON DICKENS

Tomorrow evening (Tuesday) we entertain Bicester Town at Yarnton Road K.O. 7:45pm

We are expecting a tough game against our near neighbours as last season our two league game against them yielded only one point for us, but hopefully we can continue our good start to the season and register a win. Our next three games are all against local sides starting with Bicester, Old Woodstock Town away next Saturday then Ardley United at home a week Tuesday. After these three matches we should really know what shape we are in for this season.

Last Saturday all the Players and Management were thoroughly disappointed to be knocked out of this years F.A. Cup competition. Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward said "For 60 minutes we did really well, but after going two goals up we seemed to loose concentration as Almondsbury pushed forward. Before we knew it they were level which seemed to knock the stuffing out of the players. As for the penalty – well that should never have been given. I can’t say that the ball never touched Denel Thomas' hand as it did but its all about intent and there was none. The Referee in my opinion made a howler in awarding the spot kick".

 AUGUST 2008

TUESDAY 26th AUGUST - PETER ABBOTT

Belgian Club/Ground News....I believe that it has been "finally" decided that Seraing stay put in Div 4D and that Bioul go into Div 4C, which comprises all Antwerpen and Limburg clubs whereas Bioul are from the Namur province, because Seraing argued that they must have the final say as they achieved their promotion "direct", whereas Bioul actually lost their play-off and are only promoted due to another club's demise (ie: Verb Geel).  There was also talk of Hannut instead being asked to swap over, but that has been refused.

SUNDAY 24th AUGUST - SIMON DICKENS

Kidlington FC are hosting Oxford United Reserves v Aldershot Reserves at their Yarnton Road this Tuesday 26th Aug, kick off is at midday & admission is free. If anyone fancies an afternoon match please fell free to come and spectate.

THURSDAY 21st AUGUST - SIMON DICKENS

This Saturday FTL futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington F.C. entertain Hereford based Pegasus Juniors in a league match at Yarnton Road K.O. 3:00pm. Kidlington under the guidance of joint Managers Matt Hayward and Kelvin Alexis have started their league campaign with two midweek draws both away from home firstly against Marlow United and then Reading Town. This Saturday Striker Jimmy Deabill is unavailable after turning his ankle in a freak accident whilst getting out of his car. Kidlington do hope to have Danny Wise & Jerry Kapral back in contention as they go in search of their first 3 point haul of the season.

WEDNESDAY 20th AUGUST - STAN ARMETT

Some info from Belgium.....Fixtures on footbel now show that Bioul have been placed in Div 4C as a direct replacement for La Calamine (so FC Seraing stay put) and Standard Flawinne have been promoted to Namur Prov 1 to fill the vacancy created by Bioul's elevation.

WEDNESDAY 20th AUGUST - HARLEY FREEMANTLE

A bright future is promised for non-league side Gillford Park after towering new floodlights were delivered to their Carlisle home.  Last season the club were denied promotion to the Northern League and entry to the FA Cup because of a lack of lighting at the Gillford Park Stadium.  However, club secretary Mike Linden believes the new lights will fulfil Football Association criteria. That will allow Gillford to step up to the next level once they have been installed later this season.

The development will make Gillford the only football team other than Carlisle United to have such facilities in the city, and Linden believes the development will benefit the whole community.  He said: “It allows us to progress to a higher level, to bring Northern League football to the city for the first time, and beyond.

“But it will also benefit the community as a whole, with the boys and girls in our youth teams able to use the lights as well.”

The community factor has been a cornerstone in Gillford Park’s application for Football Foundation funding.

However, they are still awaiting the decision of the Foundation, and meanwhile the lights have been supplied by a sponsor who will be named once grant money has been received.

The erection of the six £10,000, sixteen-foot high floodlights is scheduled to commence in January, with illumination expected before the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Gillford Park have announced the signing of former Carlisle United rookie Matthew Wood and a partnership with United’s Under-19 outfit, who will use their second pitch and facilities for league games this season.

They have also teamed up with local company Miltech Electrical in a lucrative sponsorship deal, which will see the ground renamed as the Miltech Stadium.

Gillford play their first home game of the season tonight, Wednesday, against Carlisle City - kick-off 6.30 pm.

TUESDAY 19th AUGUST - SIMON DICKENS

Tonight (Tuesday) FTL Futbol Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Scours Lane, the home of Reading Town, for a league game. After last Saturday’s excellent 4 - 1 win against Sandhurst Town in the F.A. Cup and the 0 – 0 mid-week draw away to Marlow Town Kiddy will be looking to take the momentum they have gained into this match. Last season’s leading scorer Mark Baker had his shooting boots on against ‘The Fizzers’ where he netted a hatrick. His strike partner Big Jimmy Deabill was instrumental in three of Kiddy’s four goals and he will be gunning to get his first goal of the campaign. Also on the plus side was that Danny Wise came through his first appearance of the season on Saturday, after his metatarsal injury which kept him out of the side for the latter part of last season when he came on a second half substitute. So with no new injury worries Kidlington will travel with the same squad as Saturday. The only absentee will be Mark Flanagan who I am told by Joint Manager Matt Hayward is recovering well from a hamstring injury picked up in the Marlow game.

Further to some press releases Kidlington, after their victory against Sandhurst Town, will now go on to face Almondsbury Town in the preliminary round of the F.A. Cup to be played at home at Yarnton Road on Saturday 30th August K.O. 3:00pm.

suggested new date is Wednesday 29 October 2008 (tbc).

Where would we be without wholesale changes in Belgium on the eve of the season ? Anyway, it's official ...
La Calamine are in Div 3B (ie: strictly speaking, thus avoiding their relegation of last season) replacing Verb Geel.
RFC Bioul 81 are promoted into the league from the Namur Province to replace La Calamine in Div 4. However, as mentioned ages ago, it is unlikely that Bioul would directly take La Calamine's place in Div 4C and can expect to go into Div 4D.  This would mean a swap with FC Seraing (on their new(ish) ground just around the corner from Stade Pairay) from 4D.  No announcement just yet. Yes, I know all the fixtures are out and they will therefore have to change! And, I'm also waiting to hear which club will therefore be additionally promoted to (or not relegated from) Namur Prov 1.

TUESDAY 22nd JULY - SIMON DICKENS

A late situation has arisen giving FTL FUTBOL Hellenic Premier Division Side Kidlington the opportunity to host local Blue Square Conference Premier side Oxford United at Yarnton Road this Thursday evening (24-07-08) with a 7:30pm K.O.
With Kidlington’s and Oxford United’s pre-season preparations now in full swing this match gives an excellent opportunity for both sets of players to impress their respective management teams and also gain more of that ever necessary match fitness.
Kidlington are hosting Thatcham Town tonight Tuesday (22-07-08) at Yarnton Road K.O. 7:45pm and Oxford United are traveling to Twerton Park to take on Bath City.
Kidlington General Manager Paul Lee confirmed that “after talking to Oxford United assistant manager Micky Lewis that the U’s will be bringing a strong XI to Yarnton Road to contest this friendly match”.
As always we are looking forward to an excellent football match between these two sides.

TUESDAY 22nd JULY - DEREK MOTT

Whilst on holidays in the UK recently from Australia, I came across a second hand bookshop along the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells with a decent supply of Maidstone United programmes. From memory, the bulk of them are from the early to mid 1980s with a small number of colour cover edition from their latter seasons. There were also a small number of League programmes (in reasonable nick) from the late 1980s and very early 1990s and all of these programmes were on sale at the cover price.

THURSDAY 17th JULY - PETER ABBOTT

With the Belgian Div 3 and Div 4 fixtures having been officially published this week, Verb Geel are assumed in Div 3B, however this is by no means certain as their "case" is still unresolved. Latest info I have is that, should they fold, Div 4C club Verb Geel Meerhout (matricule 2169) would switch to play at Stadion De Leunen in Geel. Then, either Div 3B or Div 4C would play out the 2008-09 season one club short depending on whether Verb Geel Meerhout remain as-is or satisfy the administrators that they can successfully take over Verb Geel (matricule395) in which case they could potentially move up to Div 3. Union La Calamine would therefore remain in Div 4C and kick-off the new season at home to St Lenaarts on Sunday 31 August whilst FC Bioul 91 would remain in Namur Prov 1 and start their season away at CS Onhaye the same afternoon.

TUESDAY 15th JULY - ROB HORNBY

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mablethorpe Athletic have decided not to compete in the CMFL next season, so to those who ordered the programme pack it will consist of 7 programmes for £10 instead of 8 which I think you will still think is super value, as the postage will possibly be around the £3 mark. If there is any monies left over, the CMFL choose a Charity to support each season, so I will put the odd coppers in to the fund if thats ok with everyone.  If not and you would like another programme from the opening day, please let me know and I'll pop that in to the pack for you if possible.
I will get them out to all those who ordered the pack once I have got all 7 programmes together.

SATURDAY 12th JULY - SIMON DICKENS

Before the commencement of Kidlington's pre-season campaign this Saturday afternoon at home to Buckingham Town K.O. 3:00pm our Management team of Kelvin Alexis, Matt Hayward and Paul Lee have been busy bringing in some excellent new players to the club.
Therefore Kidlington F.C. are pleased to announce the signing of Danny Clarke from Lydney Town. Clarke is a left sided midfield player

who was previously with Oxford United. Also joining us this season are Mark Flanagan form Abingdon Town, Danny Phipps from Bicester Town with Chris Baker and Jamie Munday joining us from Headington Amateurs.
Some more good news for the club is that tricky winger Morgan
Williams has re-signed for the coming season after

he was courted by several other Hellenic clubs. Other players to re-sign include Matt Hutton, Lee Bolton, Lewis Gabbidon, Emmett McGovern, Darren Clare, Deshawn Whiteman. We have also signed Rio Cadel who impressed in our under 18 youth team last season.
Lee said "it is excellent news for the club" and "the majority of these players should feature tomorrow".
In other news - A new seated stand on the Yarnton Road side of the ground and extended covered terracing at the club house end are now under construction at Yarnton Road in preparation for the start of the new season. Work will also begin on the new dugouts in the next couple of weeks or so on the allotment side of the pitch.

HTL Futbol Premier Division side Kidlington start their pre-season campaign at Yarton Road this Saturday afternoon. They will take on UCL Division One side Buckingham Town K.O. 3:00pm in what promises to be an interesting and entertaining encounter.
Prior to this match Kidlington have been boosted by the resigning of most of last season’s first team squad, including the strike partnership of Mark Baker and ‘Big’ Jimmy Deabill who amassed over 70 goals between them last season. Club general manager Paul Lee stated that he was “delighted that so many players were committing themselves at this early stage”, and he “hoped that this would send out the right message that Kidlington are a really good club to play for”. On the subject of Baker and Deabill he said that he was “extremely pleased that both these lads had decided to stay loyal to the club”. He went on to add that this was “all the more pleasing because both had been courted by several other clubs from the Southern and Hellenic Leagues and were they were offered greater monetary rewards”. Kidlington are also currently in discussion with several other potential signings which we hope to announce shortly.
Kidlington have a full pre-season to look forward to before the commencement of the league season on 12th August.
We will play Buckingham Town (h) sat 12th , Thatcham, Town (h) tues 22nd, Risborough Rangers (a) sat 26th , Oxford City Nomads (a) sat 2nd Aug, Abingdon United (h) sat 5th, Worcester & Bletchingdon (h) sat 9th.

As many of you will know by now, the CMFL will have 8 new clubs in the League this season. I have been in touch with the majority of those clubs to put together a package of their first HOME programme of the season, as I know quite a few people collect first copies of a club going in to a new league.
If anyone would like to order a 8 pack, please e-mail me or write to the address below, the cost will be £10 and that will include all 8 first issues and postage and package. It will save you contacting clubs one by one and save on postage as well. Please make cheques payable to Rob Hornby.  My address is:- 16 Burnside Drive, Mansfield, Notts, NG19 7HF and my email address is hornby60uk@yahoo.co.uk   Regards, Rob Hornby, Central Midlands Football League Clubs Liasion Officer.

TUESDAY 1st JULY - STUART ROBINSON

A few surprises at the CML agm. Eight clubs leave to enter the new East Midlands League at step 6 as expected. Three leave to join the Northern Counties East (champions Askern, who have changed their suffix from Welfare to Villa, Grimsby Borough and Appleby Frodingham). The first and last named of these confirms that the NCEL have dropped their ground grading criteria considerably in order to get their numbers up to scratch. Stanton Ilkeston, who were rumoured to be returning to their old ground have left the league (folded or dropped to a local league, not sure which). Also Armthorpe Town, who play at NCEL Armthorpe Welfare have dropped into the Doncaster Senior League.
Newcomers are ex United Counties outfit Harrowby United, who go straight into the Supreme Division, and a number of newcomers to the Premier. In order to make up the numbers in the Supreme a host of clubs have been promoted, all those with floodlights regardless of finishing position. New clubs in the Premier are Bulwell Town, Church Warsop and Kirkby Town, from the south of the region. Mablethorpe Athletic (rumoured to be made up mainly of ex Skegness Town players) come in from the far east. Parramore Sports enter from the Sheffield County Senior League (don't know yet if this is a merger with Sheffield Lane Top as rumoured) and also don't know yet where they will play. Rumours were Don Valley Stadium, probably never on due to cost, but now Rotherham United have moved in is it almost impossible? Most surprising, due to the back-tracking on the regionalisation of the CML, is the fact that two of the three applicants from north of the Humber are now members, these being Hutton Cranswick United (near Driffield) and Hull based Westella & Willerby. Lots of travelling for them, although Easington United (based near Spurn Head) have had a re-think and are not in.
Season starts August 16th.

MONDAY 16th JUNE - STUART ROBINSON

I spoke to the manager at Louth Town yesterday, he rang to ask about a pre-season game. He told me that they definitely have a new one year lease on the ground (Park Avenue). The proposed housing development on the ground may not go ahead at all, due partly to the housing downturn, but also planning problems re access. In any case, he says that the club are actively seeking a site for a new ground (they have maybe even found one), and it is hoped that it will be built to Northern Counties East League standards, but I don't know of any timescale. He seemed confident that the club would remain alive and kicking for the longer term. I don't know anything about Louth United, who were the original club there for many years. They have been in the Lincs League, but seem to live a nomadic lifestyle now. Whether or not they will exist next season only time will tell. Interesting newcomers to the Central Midlands League are Mablethorpe Athletic who are rumoured to be made up mainly of ex Skegness Town players who have left due to their decision not to join the CML.
Parramore Sports (Sheffield County Senior League) were rumoured to be using the Don Valley Stadium, but if this was ever true it probably isn't now due to Rotherham United moving in there.
Harrowby United (one time United Counties League) are placed straight into the Supreme Division, presumably because they have lights. The Supreme is now all floodlit I believe, Yorkshire Main and Kinsley having got them up (or so I am told). Forest Town give cause for some concern, having been late with getting funding for the lights, so they may miss the deadline. If so they are relegated to the Premier along with Bentley who also failed to get lights up.
Hutton Cranswick United, Humber Premier League, who were turned down last year due to being out of the catchment area, are now apparently in it, and take their place in the Premier Division, alongside another Humber Premier League club Westella & Willerby. Don't know where they plan to play but last season they kicked off at a Hull University pitch. They could therefore be another Grimsby Borough, who have had to share with Brigg Town in order to progress.
Other newcomers are Church Warsop and Bulwell Town, from the south of the catchment area.
Altogether 13 clubs have left, 8 to go into the new East Midlands step 6 league and 3 to join the Northern Counties EL. Armthorpe Town and Stanton Ilkeston are missing, either folded or stepped down. Armthorpe never seemed to have any personnel whenever I went there, and Stanton had countless games called off, supposedly due to problems with the pitch at South Normanton where they were sharing (more probably couldn't raise a side). Despite rumours that they planned to return to the old ground at Stanton next season, they have either called it a day or stepped back into local football.

MONDAY 16th JUNE - MARK JONES

LLANBERIS FC will kick off their pre-season preparations early when they encounter an Italian job next weekend.
The Welsh Alliance League outfit will host ASD Real Velletri, a relatively new club from Italy based near its capital city of Rome, on Saturday, June 21 at Ffordd Padarn (kick-off 2pm). The unexpected friendly has come about as club chairman Colin Saynor, also a member of the Llanberis management team, made contact with an old friend from Deiniolen who emigrated to Italy about 20 years ago. The friend, freelance photographer Gary Jones, is an official of Real Velletri and was keen to set up a friendly in North Wales. He initially contacted Llanberis secretary Eurwyn Thomas, and after he liaised with Colin it soon became apparent it was the Gary Jones he knew from years ago.  “I got in touch with Gary and it's grown from there really,” said Colin, a long-serving Llanberis player. “We’ve already made plans for a return game in Italy next year – the lads are quite keen to go!” Real Velletri was founded in 2002 by a group of seven friends during a dinner in the countryside of Velletri while they were discussing football in the commune on the Alban Hills in Lazio, which has a population of about 50,000. The club was formed, playing its home matches in the Giovanni Scavo stadium, but had to start from the bottom rung of the Italian pyramid system. Real Velletri won its “Third Category” championship in 2003/2004, but was relegated after two years. This season the team finished third, but failed to get in the “Seconda Categoria” after losing in the play-offs. “We’re looking forward to it,” said Llanberis manager Euron Davies. “It’s called a friendly, but we’re expecting it to be quite physical. Having looked at their website it appears they are quite a professional outfit.” Davies will have the majority of last season’s squad available for the Velletri game, plus a few guest players. “There’s a new structure in the signing system this year; we are not able to sign anyone until July 5 and contacting any players beforehand would be seen as an illegal approach,” he said. “Therefore, we can’t really plan for next season yet but having this game will help our preparations.” Mark Jones, Production Editor North Wales weekly titles.

THURSDAY 12th JUNE - PETER ABBOTT

Royal Francs Borains
Further to my post, Royal Francs Borains have successfully applied for a name change to Royal Boussu Dour Borinage from next season. The new name more or less brings in the region in which they play. Back in 1985/86 the club played in Div 4 as Boussu Bois / Elouges after which they changed their name to Francs Borains and moved across the road to the newly built Stade Vedette.
Verb. Geel-Meerhout OR Verb. Meerhout-Geel
If Geel survive in Div 3, then it's as I previously reported. If they are forcibly relegated, they will swap with Union La Calamine (Kelmis).  However, a breakaway group of supporters / shareholders at Verb Geel have agreed a feeder club / merger (partnership) with Verb Meerhout. The FA appear to have approved a name change as above for the new club which means that if Verb Geel survive in whatever division, then the new "partnership" club would be called Verb. Meerhout-Geel and presumably nothing "officially" to do with Geel. However, should Verb Geel fold, then the new club would be Verb. Geel-Meerhout and hope to play at Geel's current ground and not Meerhout. Big watch this space (when is it ever straightforward en Belgie / Belgique ?
PS: should the latter occur and Verb. Geel fold, then clearly La Calamine will revert to play again in Div 3 (where they were relegated from last month). That would then leave a place in Div 4 for next in line FC Bioul 81 from the Namur Province. I note that the Namur Provincial committee have said that they will announce their definitive list of clubs at all levels next Tuesday !

For those intending to go to the Stedfast United match tomorrow, I have been reliably informed that Hounslow West station is shut (it is Bank Holiday weekend after all!!).  The Kingston-Hounslow-Heathrow Airport Bus No.111 goes along Cranford Lane (very near to the ground) which may provide a suitable alternative for those coming by public transport.  Click link for timetable http://www.internet.xephos.com/site/xephos/en/xephos.php?template=xephos-en:timetable&table=A111&date=24/05/2008

FRIDAY 23rd MAY - STEVE KING

It is looking as though there will be quite a few people at the Stedfast United match tomorrow (see previous posting below). To make sure of your programme(s), if you are planning to attend the game it is advisable to email me as soon as possible at steveking@nonleaguedigest.com to reserve your GUARANTEED copy to pick up at the ground on Saturday.  They will be £1.00 each with 100% of the proceeds going to the home club. This will also help me enormously so that I have some sort of idea how many to print.  Also I will have some copies of the new 68-page June 2008 issue of Non-League Digest on sale @ £3.00 (don't forget subscriptions are coming down in price!) and also on a first-come-first-served basis I will have a dozen each of the following programmes I have issued this season for sale @ 50p each :- St. Andrews, Esher Athletic, Epsom Eagles, Epsom Athletic, Bromleians Sports, Old Bexleians and Galleywood.  If you require any of these (none of these clubs normally issue!) but can't get one tomorrow, don't worry.  There will be a new page on this website soon with full details of ALL the programmes I issue and how you can order them. Also if anyone is visiting the International Programme Fair in London on Saturday 7th June, I will have some for sale on the Non-League Digest stall.

THURSDAY 22nd MAY - STEVE KING

I have permission to issue a matchday programme this coming Saturday for Stedfast United for their match against Feltham Town in the Middlesex County H&D Div.3 League.  Kick-off has been confirmed as 2.30pm.  Stedfast United have already clinched the title but Feltham Town can win a runners-up spot if they gain a point on Saturday.  The club secretary has confirmed that the match is ON and will be played at their usual home ground at Cranford Community School, which is just off the High Street, Cranford, just north of Hounslow West.  For a map of the ground, please click the link below:-

 http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=510796&y=177693&z=2&sv=510796,177693&st=OSGrid&lu=N&tl=~&ar=y&bi=~&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf

As before with Barn Elms, anybody who would like a programme(s) reserved to pick up on the day which would guarantee them a copy, please email me at steveking@nonleaguedigest.com as soon as possible so that I will have an idea of number to print.

Please note that the Barn Elms match this coming Saturday will NOT be taking place at their Old Deer Park ground.  It has been switched to CB Hounslow's ground at Osterley Sports Club where there will also be a match taking place between CB Hounslow Utd Social and Broadfields Utd in Middx County League Division One West on the same day.  The reason for this switch is due the goalposts having been taken down at Old Deer Park for the season on the instructions of the local council.  Due to this, Barn Elms also used CB Hounslow's ground for their "home" match last Saturday.  Because of the switch this Saturday, also please note there will NOT be a programme issued for the Barn Elms match.  Thanks to all those who emailed me to reserve programmes but unfortunately I have only just been advised of the change of venue.

WEDNESDAY 21st MAY - CHRIS BEDFORD

I did a double on Saturday with East Villa and Garswood United (no admission or programme at either club) which could be my last game of the winter season. I'm on the doorstep of the Derby/Ashbourne Summer League so I've started to watch the odd game in this interesting competition!

There will be a bumper edition programme on Saturday at Ramsden's game with Shenfield AFC in Division 2 of The Essex Olympian League. This game has been switched from Shenfield and will kick off at 11.00am. Added interest is that this could be Shenfield's last ever game in the EOFL due to falling member numbers. The ground is at The Nursery Sports Ground, Downham Road, Ramsden Heath, Billericay, Essex. CM11 1PU. Produced by professional programme printers MK Publications (UK) Ltd, they will be on sale before kick-off at the ground.

TUESDAY 13th MAY - PETER ABBOTT

I've just spoken to the Benfleet club sec and rather annoyingly, Galleywood have cried off tonight's match saying they can't raise a team.

TUESDAY 6th MAY - SIMON DICKENS

This coming Sunday 11th May Kidlington Football Club are hosting a memorial match for Club Stalwart Terry Wiffen who passed away after a short illness last September. The match will take place at our Yarnton Road Ground and will K.O. at 12:00 mid-day. Terry was a member of our Club for over 20 years, in fact he was known as Mr Kidlington Football Club. His family, friends and colleagues all miss him terribly and we have all agreed that this match is a fitting tribute to him.
Kidlington manager Paul Lee has been working with Oxford United assistant manager Micky Lewis to get what I consider an excellent Oxford United legends side together for this game. Matt Hunt who played along side Terry in his football days has put together a Kidlington legends squad fitting of the occasion.

MONDAY 5th MAY - MICK BURT

I am issuing a programme for Pembury FC for this afternoon's Kent County League Division Two East match against champions  Canterbury City at Woodside Playing Field.  Kick-off is 2.45pm.

TUESDAY 22nd APRIL - STEVE KING

Further to my posting yesterday regarding Liphook United, having spoken to their secretary, he does not want a programme produced for the match tonight because things are a bit hectic at the club at the moment trying to organise tickets and travel to a cup final they are appearing in soon and he feels that a programme will not help matters.  I did contact Old Bristolians FC by email late yesterday regarding a small programme this evening for their Surrey South Eastern Combination match against Battersea Ironsides at Prince George's Playing Field, Grand Drive, Raynes Park but haven't heard back from him yet.  If I get the go ahead for a programme tonight, I will post on the noticeboard later.

MONDAY 21st APRIL - STEVE KING

Some programme news for this week.  I will be issuing a programme for St. Andrews this coming Thursday 24th April for their Surrey SE Combination match against Battersea Ironsides at Weston Green SC - kick-off 6.15pm.  I am hoping to also issue a programme for tomorrow evening's match at Liphook United against Chiddingfold in the Surrey County Intermediate (Western) League although I haven't heard back from their Secretary as yet.  I will put a further update on the noticeboard as and when I receive any further news.

MONDAY 14th APRIL - SIMON KIDBY

Grass roots sport in Bromley received a boost today following a £40,525 award to Holmesdale FC by the Football Foundation, the UK’s largest sports charity. The funding will go towards installing floodlights and create a new pitch side pathway.
The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country.
Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £45m budget going straight into the heart of football.
Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation said: “We warmly congratulate Holmesdale FC for their hard work and dedication in securing this award. I would also like to thank the Kent County FA for their efforts in making this bid happen. “Sport is playing a central role in helping people to stay fit, strengthen communities and promote responsibility amongst young people. I am delighted that Football Foundation investment is opening up access to sport in Kent and I encourage other organisations in the region to apply to us.”
Ray Tolfrey, Chairman at Holmesdale FC, said: “As a club we can now plan for the future, this Football Foundation Grant will
help us to establish ourselves within level 5 football and take Holmesdale FC into a new era of senior football and entry into the FA Cup & Vase”

MONDAY 14th APRIL - STEVE KING

League leaders Epsom Eagles FC have given me permission to issue a programme for tomorrow evening's Surrey South Eastern Combination Division One match v. St. Andrews at King Georges Playing Field, Auriol Park.  Kick-off is 6.15pm.

For a map locating where the ground is please click on the link below:-

FRIDAY 11th APRIL - DAVE GRAHAM

Sunday game Welsh Hop weekend  : Ystradgynlais v Seven Sisters Sunday 20th April, not sure of kick-off time but presumably 2.30pm.

FRIDAY 11th APRIL - SIMON DICKENS

It was a glorious night for Kidlington Football Club last night after the team recorded another superb victory in the second leg of the HPL Hellenic Floodlit Trophy Final against Ardley United to win 7-3 on aggregate.  When referee Mr Hey brought the match to an end Kidlington were able to start celebrating their first major honour for many a year. To a man over the two legs Kidlington had been far the better side and this was reflected in the final aggregate score of 7 – 3. All we can do now is hope that this is the start of a successful period for the Club as with the basis of this squad who knows what can be achieved by Paul Lee and his team.

FRIDAY 11th APRIL - SHAUN ELLIS

On Tuesday 8th April I was in attendance as Fleet Spurs FC of the Wessex League Division One who hosted Whitchurch United under their new lights for the 1st ever first team competitive match played under the ‘candles’.
The impressively bright lights were switched on and a 0-1 defeat was played out in front of a disappointing turnout of about 20 spectators, including a few groundhoppers.
A club official informed me they hope to host a league club in a pre-season friendly for the ‘official’ floodlight opening.
The ground at Kennels Lane, Southwood, Nr Farnborough is already undergoing much work with hard standing going down on 3 sides to complement that already in place on the Southwood pavilion side. This is required to meet the strict ground grading criteria coming into force for the Wessex League in 2008/9.

WEDNESDAY 9th APRIL - STEVE KING

Further to my posting yesterday, Bromleians Sports have agreed to allow me to produce a programme for tomorrow evening's match against league champions Phoenix Sports at Scrubs Farm Sports Ground, Lower Gravel Road, Bromley in the Kent County League Division One West - kick off will be 6.15pm.

Update to this posting on Friday 11th April : Result of the match was:-

Bromleians Sports 1, Phoenix Sports (champions) 2.

Att : est 40

WEDNESDAY 9th APRIL - DOUG ALLUM

Phoenix Sports were crowned Kent County League Div One West Champions last night, with a resounding 6-0 win over bottom of the table Fleetdown United. They also missed a penalty after just 33 seconds! Fairplay to Fleetdown, as they didn't play that badly, they were just beaten by a far superior side. I am sure Thursday's game will still be evenly contested.
Phoenix have just received and agreed a sponsorship deal of 15k and intend to install floodlights at their Phoenix Sports Club ground in Mayplace Road East. Definetly a club on the up.

TUESDAY 8th APRIL - STEVE KING

With the football club's permission, I am hoping to issue a programme this Thursday, 10th April for Bromleians Sports against Phoenix Sports in the Kent County League Division One West at Scrubs Farm Sports Ground, Lower Gravel Road, Bromley.  A further update will appear on here tomorrow (Wednesday) regarding the programme situation.  Phoenix Sports are currently well clear at the top of the table so a good game should be in prospect.

THURSDAY 3rd APRIL - PETER ABBOTT

Belgian Jupiler League side Germinal Beerschot Antwerp have said that they want to upgrade their facilities and extend their capacity by in-filling the corners at Het Kiel. However the town governors would rather the club, alongside Royal Antwerp, would be party to a proposed new stadium for the town. GBA's problem is that any new ground would be on the other side of Antwerp and they don't appear to fancy that.

WEDNESDAY 2nd APRIL - STUART LATHAM

This Saturday v Brimsdown, Chalfont St. Peter will break its record on programme size with a 68 page programme being produced. On 19th April v. Tring I hope to break the record once again with a 72 page edition.

The club has undergone plenty of ground updates over the past few weeks including new toilet block, turnstiles and a 229 seater stand.

Town, who have been top of the table for most of the season, have two remaining home games at their Knights Templar Sports Centre venue, before they move to a new ground next season. The club have been issuing programmes all season and have received some excellent feedback from various groundhoppers and visitors alike. Baldock take on promotion-chasing Chipperfield Corinthians on Saturday 29th March before concluding their campaign and time at Knights Templar with the visit of Croxley Guild on April 19th. The club are planning to do a “Special Edition” programme on the final day with details of all the teams within the club and various other features. FRIDAY 14th MARCH - BRIAN BUCK

I've just noticed on Football.mitoo that Thrapston are playing Huntingdon Town tonight now. I haven't checked this but suspect that it will be on because it wasn't on this website yesterday.
The abandoned Stotfold v St Neots game (mass brawl) was scheduled to take place on 27 March, but has now been put back to later in the season pending investigation by the FA and the League.
The Wootton Blue Cross v St Ives Hunts Premier Cup match didn't take place last next because the WBX secretary failed to realise that when she arranged the match it clashed with the Easter Bingo Night which apparently attracts about 130 people and parking would become almost impossible!

TUESDAY 11th MARCH - TONY LINK

 FEBRUARY 2008

THURSDAY 28th FEBRUARY - PETER ABBOTT

I ticked off VC Jong Lede's "new" ground last Sunday (lost 0-1 to WIK Eine in the Oost Vlaanderen Prov 1). Coloured team sheet available.
I first visited this club for a Belgian League Div 3 game on 16 October 1988 when they played at Openveldstraat to the top of the town. This is now built over since the club moved to Keibergkerk off Ommeganglaan to the south of the town probably around 15 years ago. Yes, its taken me an amazingly long time to catch up with their move although to be slightly fair they did fall from grace somewhat since that time and have only this season got back as high as Prov 1 (level 5).
However, to the point of this tale. The club are on the move again !
From April they will move in to a new ground at 90 degrees to where they are currently located (same address). A new clubhouse and separate dressing room complex are nearing completion and I was told that they will play their last two game this season at the new venue, meaning they have only two more games on the current pitch / ground. I rather doubt it, but some who visited many years ago may want to rush along !

THURSDAY 28th FEBRUARY - PETER ABBOTT

TUESDAY 19th FEBRUARY - BRIAN BUCK

From Cambridge University:
Unfortunately the Match tonight has been postponed. Parts of the pitch are rock solid and icy, there is no sun this morning to start a thaw and in fact we now have fog come in to add to very cold conditions.
We will try hard to reschedule the match.
If the forecast is correct we are very optimistic that Thursday afternoon's Match between The Falcons and Newport County FC U.18`s will be played and, more so, Sunday morning's Match ( 10.30 ) between The Blues and The Territorial Army F.A.
But then again can we believe the forecasters?

TUESDAY 8th JANUARY - PETER ABBOTT

Belgian Brabant Prov 2 side RWDM Molenbeek (who I have written of many times) went into administration on 24 December 2007. The club who are this season playing at Stade Verbist are currently bottom of their league with no wins. The club président, Jean-Bernard André-Dumont, has injected 7,000 euros since August some of which was set aside to pay off old debts. The club will apparently finish the season, however are now on the look out for local clubs to help guarantee the club's future. Another "fusion" in the making.
