MONDAY 24 SEPTEMBER - PETER ABBOTT
Some more Belgian news...Two young Jamoigne (Div 4) players, Jules Collard and Thibaut Bossicard, were killed at the weekend following a road traffic accident. Bossicardhad played in goal on Saturday evening as the club lost 3-7 at URS Centre. In Div 3A, Peruwelz's home match (at FC Tournai) against Oudernaarde was abandoned due to floodlight failure with the home side leading 1-0.
MONDAY 24 SEPTEMBER - STAN ARMETT
Apart from it's "high risk" status, there are additional problems with playing the Tienen v Antwerp fixture at 5-15 on Wed 10th October. Concerns have been raised that, at that time, the additional traffic generated by the match, could cause serious congestion on the Tienen ring road - which passes the ground. Kick off cannot be later than 5-15 as Tienen's floodlights are currently out of action and their upgraded ones are not expected to be installed before October 10th. The conclusion of the newspaper story that I read on this matter was that the game is likely to be rescheduled to a later date (and kick off time). One of yesterday's Belgian newspapers published a Div 2 league table including Saturday's games, but re-starting from Round one and ignoring all matches played so far!
MONDAY 24 SEPTEMBER - PETER ABBOTT
The Verb Geel / UR Namur saga appears to be over (for the time being) and Div 2 games are now up and running again. However, the latest fixtures are a nightmare! The Belgian FA have, in their wisdom, published completely new fixtures for the remainder of 2007-08 even though most teams had played 3 or 4 games (up to and including yesterday Sun 23 Sept). In effect, this means that "some"of the "future" fixtures now announced have "already been played". If you take a look at some fixtures in any month and even as far ahead as next April 2008, results are known - so if you're planning a trip, be careful, games obviously won't be played a second time! I understand that the"period" tables will be calculated as usual with games played "ahead"counting in the relevant period. Also, rather unusually, there are some midweek games arising. And, one of these, VK Tienen v. Royal Antwerp on Weds 10 October will kick-off at 17-15 on police advice while other games that evening will start at 20-00. PS: to a much lesser extent, the same situation partly arises in Div 3A (not 3B).

Hi I've been asked to pass on the following message from Oliver Leisner:- My new book, Groundhopping Informer 2007/2008 is available soon. Firstly,I´d like to ask you, if you would like to order a book for yourself. And on the other side, I´d like to ask you, if you could prepare a little message to all your friends from your big e-mail list. The book will be ready for delivery on 1st of October and it will contain more than 340 pages, some new leagues (England this year down to 8th level with map) and the non-league area is not necessarily used to read with a reading-glass. TUESDAY 18 SEPTEMBER - PETER ABBOTT
It is expected that the Belgian FA will ratify further changes in Div 2 and Div 3 later today, namely that both Verb Geel and UR Namur will play this season in Div 2 (19 clubs) ! The "Turnhout Agreement" vote by all of the clubs of Div 2 and Div 3 has forced what is hoped to be the final changes to this season's composition and a further set of "new" fixtures will be made available. All matches had been postponed on the weekend of 8-9 Sept and Geel's proposed Div 3 game last Saturday night was also postponed. Geel fans therefore then went along to protest at the ground of Lommel where Namur were picking up a Div 2 point in a 1-1 draw. Namur now expect to be at home this weekend in their first game at Div 2 level for 40 years, their insistence not to fulfil Div 3 fixtures having paid off. Meanwhile, Div 3 will play on with two divisions of 16 and 15 clubs. Is this amazing situation over at last ?
TUESDAY 11 SEPTEMBER - BOMBER BROWN

MONDAY 10 SEPTEMBER - STEVE KING
Reading League Senior Division club Forest Old Boys have sadly folded within the last ten days. Their secretary told me that it was an inevitable decision as the club have been struggling for the past couple of seasons and had no choice in the end but to call it a day.
SUNDAY 2 SEPTEMBER - BOMBER BROWN
